Looking at the scenario events at Splatterpark in ohio, and I may try to make it out to one this year. Any of you guys been to these before? Any MCB presence there?
This is my "local" field (little over an hour's drive). I haven't been to their scenario games in recent years but I went to one of their "big games" in the early 2000's and it was awesome; 1000+ people in the woods, got totally wrecked by players with Angels. I do walk-on rec play there now and would also be interested in a scenario game here in the future.
Sweet! It’s too far for me for a walk on game, just under 3 hours. But I’m hoping to go to either the big game in June or the one in October. We’ll see.
I plan to attend the big game this Sunday! Bringing my wife and a couple friends.
Say hi if you see the super tall guy wearing a T shirt featuring Joe Exotic and Barry Wood, rocking an LV2, Evo X, or Nexus 'cocker (haven't made up my mind on that yet).
It was awesome! The weather couldn't have been better, the field paint shot decent, and the refs/staff were all great. Plus, I met up with some old team mates (one who I haven't seen in probably 15+ years) and we had a blast with the casual, laid back playing style. We're officially the old(er) guys who have come to prefer scenario ball over tournament play.
That being said, I wish they still had a turnout like the near 1,000 player big games of the early 2000's. Also, the field layout was frustrating at times - there are some areas that only have waist-high bunkers, and they're spaced out so far that it feels impossible to advance. Players ended up in a standoff just lobbing shots back and forth. But those are both minor complaints. The crowd was definitely large enough to produce a target rich environment (a few hundred, at least, but that's a guess), and we could usually find other areas with plenty of action.
We're planning on inviting more friends and heading out for the next scenario game on June 27-28. Probably only playing on one of those days though.
