Winter Stock Class Event? anyone interested

Alright MCB. I'm beginning to organize a winter stock class event and I need bodies to make sure I can pull it off.

I want to shoot for Saturday, December 10 at Xtreme Paintball in Agawam, MA. I talked to the field today, and I need at least `10 of you crazy folks to make this happen

Here's the deal, $40 entry fee and it includes a bag of 500 paintballs. Stock Class 2.0 rules..... AnarchicArctic ‘s famous quick draw competition and a couple of single shot games mixed in.

GET YOUR K-FRAMES and PGPs Modded and ready because FSR WILL BE ALLOWED during the single-shot game (and ONLY the single-shot games).

If there is enough interest I will put an official posting with the rest of the details, but for now, just looking for interest to make sure it's doable.

    POST UP!

The reason why there haven't been any stock-class events run in the winter is because the cold temperatures absolutely kill 12-gram efficiency. Depending on the temps, you could be getting 10 to 12 usable shots out of one 12-gram and that one fact gives a lot of players pause to participate. I think a bigger reason is that many SC players are "fair weather ballers", meaning that if it's too hot, too cold, or there is a whisper about rain, then the vast majority bail. If snow is involved, then you definitely lose even more interest. Hey, a lot of stock-class players are prima-donnas. There. I said it.

Listen, I'm not trying to shit on anyone's parade here. Obviously, I will support any initiative at organizing a stock-class event, especially if it incorporates the 2.0 rules. However, I do feel compelled to mention why winter SC events have historically not been able to draw enough interest for organizers to host one.

Regarding allowing FSR to be used... I think that's a big mistake. Players using FSRs have a huge advantage over those who don't use them. The 2.0 rules were designed to insure fairness, and allowing FSRs will negate that balance. Just something to consider.

I dig where you’re coming from on the FSR front, but if they’re only allowed during the single shot games it’s the exception vs. the rule.

I think packersrule729 has the right idea, make it less restrictive and call it Nick’s Saucy Stick Feed Rodeo. I’m sure the healthy number of us will be shooting 2.0 compliant gear anyways.

Slim, your input is always greatly appreciated and I agree with...well....all of your points. ( And even if I didn't, I'm not gonna argue with the King of StockClass )

Don't feel as though you're shitting on my parade (or anyone's). It's an "interest thread" for a reason, I know this is going to be a tall order to fulfill just 9 more people (but it looks like I may be halfway there) Selfishly, I'm not going to put in the work to organize it if I'm not going to be able to get enough people, I'll just play with some walk-ons and play stock class and/or single shot instead.

Personally, I love playing winter ball, but to your point, the fields are pretty desolate come November - March....especially with pumps let alone 12-ies. I actually prefer playing in the winter over the summer (my sweat glands activate at 50*s), but I'm also the weirdo who will go out and play in the pouring rain. I played several games this past winter with 12grams and efficiency was absolutely in the toilet. I think I was getting about 12-15 shots out of my SC marker in 20* weather and a little closer to 15-18 out of my single shot (which admittedly was FSR so I could turn it down a bit since they shoot a little hotter). Despite the crap efficiency, the frozen fingers and toes, icicles in my facial hair, and the extra sting from getting shot out they were some of the most memorable games I was part of this year (in a good way).

I'm hoping for a small handful of some HardCore MBC-ers to throw caution to the wind and freeze their asses off with me and have an adventure.

As far as the FSR, I totally agree, it does create a HUGE advantage over SC markers. My plan was to only have one or two games the entire day that would allow them and they would only be single-shot games. The rest of the games will be strict 2.0 rules. The primary focus of the day is stock class.
It was more of an excuse for those of us who have some single-shot, FSR-ready markers to have a chance to use them in a controlled environment without having to worry about getting lit-the-eF-up by electros or mag-fed guys. (Or to get someone a chance to try it out)

Either way, I hope to see you at Stocktoberfest!

            I’ll be there for sure.

To Slim’s point, it might make sense to open this event up to stick feeds and small tanks, ie mod stock.

But either way, I’m there and I’ll be balling

I think Stockclass in the cold will add a chaotically interesting dynamic. People are bound to shoot less and move more. Really make those trigger pulls count. Reckon only the diehards will show and that’s fine too. Just a handful of us morons running around laughing in the snow

allow roundball to chrono at a higher field velocity than FSR and i think you can come up with a fair duel. restrict fsr to like 265 and allow 68 caliber roundball chrono to 300. short range blast fest so everything will break fine.

I'm considering it. Both my wife and daughter rolled there eyes when I said the date. They think I'm nuts for wanting to play in winter

Definitely not using the pumpmag as on a good warm day it gets 12 shots. That cold would be comically low.

I love winter ball, its my preferred season to play. (Late fall, winter and early spring)
But I also hate being hot and I sweat in 60* cloudy weather while sitting in the shade drinking ice water.

I’d avoid playing with that mag unless you was 1 shot per 12-ie

December isn’t even cold around these parts anymore anyways. I agree on enjoying playing when it’s chilly out better than warm also.
