    PNL Take the Town 2023

How's this scenario typically play out? I've only played in a handful of scenario events (nothing at PNL before) and they tend to just be stalemates with little to no communication. I know Chuck and a few others have gone, any input?

I went last year. It's fun but it's a shit show. I play pump and I went through a case of paint. God knows I'll probably get convinced to go with the big game team I'm associated with. The reffing isn't great, and if I'm not mistaken they didn't balance the teams properly last year in terms of numbers. There are some pretty fun aspects though, being the last man standing in an intense hallway firefight as a defender was one of my favorite moments in over a decade of paintball.

Personally, I avoid it. Some folks have a great time. It’s just not my thing. Tends to be a TON of paint in the air, a good amount of wiping, and some egos involved.

Not that that’s much different from most big games these days, so take that with a grain of salt.

PNL is one of my home fields and I play there dozens of time a year. Just not that day.

Ultimately, it’s your call. If you like big games and tons of paint flying, I’d recommend it. There’s also usually a solid crew of pumpers that attend as well.

I was shocked by how many players were emotionally invested in the outcome to the point of cursing out refs and becoming hostile in general.

P&L is a lot of fun to play, that being said I have come to realize scenario paintball is the worst type of paintball.

You want a good paintball come out for Birthday Ball (April 23).

Im personally done with Scenario paintball you can’t even trust people to follow basic safety precautions like you know don’t shoot less than lethal rounds. This didn’t happen at P&L and most likely a unique situation. But in 20+ years of playing I have never seen such disrespect for the sport. They just are not fun anymore people out there trying to hurt each other.

I've gone to Take The Town for the past four years. I doubt I'll make it a fifth time. The hallway battles can be really intense and fun. The game has gotten worse as the years go on unfortunately. It attracts toxic recballers who can't play fair and cause problems as of late.

I played last year, what I noticed from playing past scenarios comparatively this is strictly an attack/defend game. If your defending you have to stay in the town area, your not allowed to push out and try to advance, if just sitting in a couple spots for the whole game isn't your play style, you'll probably wanna avoid this one. My biggest gripe there was the field conditions. If I'm not mistaken they'll be renovating the town area because its literally falling apart, the ambulance ended up having to be called cause someone hurt their leg pretty bad. I remember the refs bringing in additional ply wood when the sides were switching to plug up large holes in walkways/ramps.

I mostly go to certain big games/events these days to see people I only engage with online or haven't seen in awhile, but some games even though I know there a shit show I still enjoy playing, I just know what to expect so I wont get disappointed or anything

I'm over this game. Wish OSG had a game around this time period so I could fit that in when I go home instead of this game.

Last year, I was on the other side of a wall watching an opposing player repeatedly get hit in the head and wipe it. Came around the corner, blasted him, still didn't go out, turned into a vintage NPPL spraydown until I couldn't take it anymore and walked away, he was still there when I left. Worse I've been hurt in a long time playing, my hands were completely covered in blood from point blank hand shots, and I had one giant bruise basically up my entire left side. Sat out the rest of the game.

Just too many shitty "teams" at these big games. Just reminds me why I really only play private games with guys I know nowadays.

Worth it if it's your first time. I'll never attend another. Just isn't fun. Cheaters and over shooters.

Appreciate all of the honest input and feedback. It pretty much confirms my assumptions and prior experiences with other scenario games. I really need to get my buddies to a field other than Matt's, but it's so damn cheap and close lol.

Last time I was there it was a lot of Mag Fed guys. Not a bad day fields are cool. But the parking lot gets peppered with paint from the Xball fields my car got trashed with paint. Holes in the nets are a bit sketchy I got yelled at by some mom because I said something to this lil kid looking threw the holes in the net to watch the Xball games better. I’m surprised there aren’t more injuries I kept my mask on a day and/ or put my sunglasses on. The fields are cool tho and fun to play and the prices are reasonable and the paint shot good and broke easy. I only played rec there a few times tho. Most of the time it was for Mats xball events. Good field with not the safest practices. Back in the day we use to play Xball all winter in this massive dome they had that was really cool. It’s gone now.

Hogan’s Alley will be relocated somewhere in CT this June. It appears we’ll both have another local option in CT.

His Ops league is starting this or next weekend, so both xball fields are in full swing. That said, the 2 rec fields have been a great mix of rec and walk-ons the past 4 weeks. There hasnt been magfed folks lately (just some airsofters), but they may come out when it warms up. I usually muster up a group of 5-8 each time, so we get some good games in.

Yea, the field is basically run by the players (partially why it's so cheap). He does have two hoses to wash your car off when you leave! lol.

Yeah man just get them out to one of or North East get togethers. It’s just better paintball. Most of them get posted right here in the North East section come check one out I guarantee it will be worth the travel.

I would stay away from scenario / big games they are way to toxic nowadays.

5/6/23 Chuck Love is hosting a pump day at Xtreme.

5/20-5/21 Slims Stock Class at AG paintball in Wear NH

Packers has a great group of players that play around Ashland

Johnny is going to host a game War Zone TBD

OSG just posted their pump days (theses are worth the drive)

Cougar20th hosts Reeperball games at AG and OSG in the fall

I plan on hosting something local to me at Albany Paintball Experience or Montgomery Paintball.

But we do a lot of Pop up walk on take overs all over the north east. Keep an eye out for them. I travel for good paintball it’s worth it 100% of the time to play with good like minded ballers.

Sounds like I'll need to grab a Phantom! I typically run with my mech'd DSR+ or a cocker.

For the stock class days it would help but we always got extra if you let one of us know ahead of time and just want to try it out. We got gear and are more than hay to share. But there are lots of run what you brung days especially the pop up walk on days. I was just pointing out games I know have 100% quality paintball in your area. I read your first post and felt your pain, I been there. This is the way….
