For anyone who is interested, here's my review. The field is like 3 or 4 woods fields with a "speedball" field made of plywood bunkers and a "town" field made of slightly larger plywood bunkers. The woods fields have some decent sized trees that are good cover on their own . There's also a castle field where there the defenders arent allowed to leave the castle and attackers have to either grab a flag or get all the defenders out. They have to stay 25 feet away from the castle unless they're going for the flag.... the castle field isn't really my style but the rest are pretty good. As far as facilities its port-a-pots and then a proshop inside of an old farm house that does have a decent amount of basic items in stock(pods, squeegees, etc). Paint is a little pricey here(field paint only), I paid $20 for a single bag of graffiti, but i'd probably shoot the lower end stuff next time as it had flat spots and I doubt the renters are shooting enough for it to stay fresh. Entry is $20 with all day air. You have to hand your tank over the counter in order to get a fill. You cant fill your own tank. I had to just use my PM8 with a 100 round hopper because filling my 9ci tank for the phantom was a chore. The crowd is much more renter focused. There were about 20 players that stayed the whole day and about 5 of us had our own gear. It was me and like 2 other guys with mini gs' and a couple other guys with old spyders and a guy rocking an old impulse. Nobody was shooting much paint. There were also a couple of paintball private groups and a ton of airsoft players. More airsoft than walk-on paintball players.
I think if I were to introduce a brand new person to the game I'd take them here. All the walk-on renters were having a blast, commenting on how they want to come back soon, etc etc. Compared to some other local fields the renters were noticeably happier. There are lots of refs here...mostly teenagers but they actually do a decent job and there's always one in sight if you have questions. After I paid my fee one of them actually saw me getting ready and came up to me to welcome me and let me know where the chrono was and let me know the rules.
So to sum up... it seems less competitive than say PAP which is also in north-central Maryland, and a better place to take a newbie than most places I've been to. But PAP is probably a better place to go if you want to play against experienced players. PAP is also a bit cheaper, has DIY fills, and has arguably better fields.
Since its so close I'll definitely be back. No regrets on going. Very fun.
