      After Action Report, May 16 - May 18, 2025...

In the days leading up to the 15th annual Slim's Spring Stock Classic, all eyes were on the forecast. Friday gave us beautiful weather, so the campers who arrived early enjoyed a comfortable set up. Friday night was pretty tame and involved... metal detecting?!?

We started Wild West Scenario Saturday morning off with a little wet misting, and thankfully that was the worst it got. By the afternoon, the sun was out. Despite the forecast, we had a pretty decent turnout of over 35 players with several first timers in the mix. The range of variety in the markers was even broader than usual and included a PMI that was mated to a trumpet with an on-board computer that actuates the trigger by depressing the correct notes on the valves. The Z-grip pumpmag/Sydarm was pretty cool too.

In an effort to change things up a little, I decided to change the order of the missions around so we'd be starting on different fields than we normally do. I also opted to eliminate a couple of the regular missions like "Tombstone", "Boot Hill" and "The Watering Hole" and substitute in some alternatives. Attendees gave positive reviews and the entire day went smoothly. As usual, all of the stock-class action was both fierce and fun!
The Wild West Quick Draw Competition went well too. We were able to round up 16 brave souls to make a full bracket and the showdown began. Apparently quite a few players need to sharpen their quick draw skills as there were 3 sets of buys, but that did speed things along. Congrats to Brian L. for defeating his opponents and taking home the coveted "Fastest Gun" award!

The shenanigans began early on Saturday night with the Snack Shot Stock Class Toast(s) taking place at 6pm. Players were treated to a variety of "Snack Shots", traded war stories and engaged in full-on stock-class camaraderie. It was only an hour or so later when the gods unleashed their wrath with thunderstorms, high winds and a torrential downpour of biblical proportions. Those not at the camp out simple assumed all the capers must have met a wet and frightening demise. Surprisingly, there were no fatalities, and those attending the camp out were actually joking about the event! Apparently, eggs were somehow involved in all of this, but non-campers were not privy to the details.

Sunday morning players awoke to blue skies and sunshine. Welcome to New England! License plates from RI, NY, PA, MA, CT, ME, NH, VA, MD and several other states started arriving in the parking lot - all to participate in the main event. The exact numbers haven't been tallied yet, but attendance was around 70 +/- players. Even more first time SC players showed up which was great to see!!! After consulting with Field Manager Jared and the refs, it was decided to change up the usual order of games again. The first game of the day was held on the smallest field - "Frequency". Watching almost 70 players slugging it out on that field was epic. We continued to switch up the fields from previous years and the reaction was very positive. We got in 6 games before lunch and then another 10 after lunch. It was a full day to say the least. As usual, the skill, sportsmanship and camaraderie that was displayed highlights what stock-class paintball is all about. When you host an event like this and a first time players comes up to you and says that they just had the most fun they ever had playing paintball, it makes it all worth it!

I want to thank every single player who joined us this weekend, as well as those who came just to hang out. Even some guy named "M. Carter Brown" showed up to say hi! Thanks to Brian L. for always volunteering to make breakfast for the campers! We have a great community of people and YOU are who is making stock-class paintball as fun and enjoyable as it is!

Thanks to Aric Lantiegne, the entire staff at AG Paintball and Snack Shot for hosting these events. There is simply NO way these events would be as enjoyable, safe and smoothly run as they are without the tireless efforts, support and extreme generosity of Aric. Thank you brother!

Thanks to Vito Doria for his support behind the scenes, to Colby Baughman of Handmade Paintball, Holt Mike of Stockclass Heroes and "Atom Jaay" for making "Stock Class Alley" a fun addition to these events.

Special thanks to all those who support these events by making extremely long-distance treks to attend these events as well. Derek from Florida, Alex from Canada, The Timberwolves from MD/VA and everyone else who drives/flies for hours to attend - your commitment to just getting here means I must be doing something right and I hope to continue to make a long commute worth it for every player. My sincere gratitude goes out to all of you!

Ok, that's a wrap! The 8th annual Ragnastock Summer Stockstice stock-class event at Xtreme Paintball in Agawam, MA is coming up in one month and we hope to see you all there! Until then, be safe and clean your equipment!
      Cheers,
      Slim

Thank you very much for organizing the event, herding all of the cats and dealing with all of the sarcasm and comments from the peanut gallery. I personally liked the switch in fields on Sunday and the extra games before lunch.
