    Area 53

Trying to arrange a game for my brother and his friends that don’t play at all. They live in and around nyc. Anyone ever try this place? Thoughts?

People from that area drive up to MSG Paintball in Montgomery NY. They will likely have a better experience at MSG paintball. Area 53 is more detacated to birth day party’s and Tourists. I think there are only a few days a month you can bring your own gear. If at all looks like it’s only 50 cal. According to their website.

Games are sold in 3hr time brackets you must get them ahead of the date and pre pay. You are guaranteed “3 games” with a max of 30 player matches. So I imagine it probably gets pretty busy looks like they are booked a few weeks out. So they are likely just churn a burning as much people threw the place as possible. I have not played there but it certainly does not sound like it’s going to provide the best experience.

It would 100% be worth the drive to MSG paintball. It’s cheaper they will have better paint and a better experience. + they have a sick Proshop at the end of Bart Bull Road.

Area 53 last I went was 50 cal and their equipment only. That was 2019 though. There is a cousins paintball in Staten island but I have not been in a long time.

I've had good experiences at Battle Creek Paintball in West Milford, NJ which will be closer than MSG if that drive seems too far for your group.

Went there last time I got these guys out. Good first half the day. Second half was way too crowded ( 30 v 30 on a regular field) for my taste. Also, my own dumb fault but someone stole my extra tank. I’ll go back at some point but there are other options I’ll try first

I haven’t been to Battle Creak since my Xball days. Strazza still run the place?

The Junk yard Field was fun but I don’t remember them having a ton of Rec fields. Granted I have been there in years and when I did it was the hot spot for Xball practice.

edit: They got 15 acres looks like a bunch of fields now.

            They even offer BYOP

I remember it only being a few hours from me I should go check the place out. I only remember really playing speed ball there.

I’m going to check the place out. Might be a fun place to host a pump day with the Nort East players. BYOP option would be a big draw.

Yeah I was watching some YouTube videos from recently looks like a lot of guys I use to play with back in the day still play there. Probably pop in for a walk on day and see if I can get some spins on the speedball field. Dust off the 08 Ego for giggles.

My experience on a Saturday last month matches Daniel Tiger's. Playing as a walk on, the group started with 12 at 10am but grew to 25+ by 2pm. The problem was the ref kept putting on the same 2 fields (they have 5 woodsball fields/maps) which were fine for 12 but absurd for the afternoon rush. Basically, they needed a 2nd ref so they could split the groups. The other walk ons were a mix of renters and guys all kitted up, all of whom were cool. The speedball field was in continuous use the whole day.

For woodsball, they have the "junkyard" pallets and barrels field, a castle, a town, a steep hillside with structures top & bottom, and "fences" which is a lot of staggered fence sections....which was actually pretty great for pump...

Yeah that’s how it was back then. You couldn’t get spins on the speedball fields unless you had 5. But the top divisional NE teams would practice there so the competition was wicked good. You kind of had to earn there respect at that time. It was super clicky back then. But man was it good paintball.
