    D6 MSXL All Pump Team

Would anybody in the area be interested in playing the MSXL series in D6 as an all pump team? I'd love to be able to put one together. Obviously we would be playing against 10.5BPS ramping and the odds would be stacked against us but that just makes it more fun, right?

We would just need a roster of people that are committed to making the events below. Whether that is 3 that make them all or 5 so we have some alternates. We could take it as seriously or casually as you want. I'd love to have team practices whenever we can though and try to place as high as possible!

    My first season playing tournament paintball there was an all pump team competing under the name Pump Kin;
really cool guys and didn't even place last.

Can't wait! I'm planning on making a couple of Slim's events this year, maybe a little visit to the Welthouse too if I can swing it.

Sadly, I already have plans that interfere with the first two dates.

Fair enough, could I count you as a potential "maybe" for the later dates if we can piece something together?

You think that was an accident!? I wanted to dust you this season. 😉 Just kidding, I only recently started to get serious about the idea but it's been bouncing around my head for a bit.

My odds are much worse if I also have to play 1v3.

Straight bonkers! I'm too old for that shizz but I'll cheerleader this initiative.

Someone should convince MXSL to run a pump side-league. We had one back home that wasn't as big as other local events, but it was great. They even had a free-entry tier to fill out the team brackets if an event had low turnout (no prize but free lunch).

Oh come on buddy! We need a home player! That would be cool, I think if pump continues to grow in the area or the economy continues to slow down and everyone's forces to play pump it's a possibility. 😂

Really cool you guys used to have one.

How many pods does a "home" pump player carry? 1? 2? I was just debating this today, "if i can go, do i wear a pod pack? If i do wear one, do i carry an extra normal pod, or two or thee 50 round pods instead?". Lol

StaticShocked Glad you're thinking about it. I think 3 full size pods and a hopper would be my starting point. That's if I had an open class setup that could shoot fast. 2 would probably end up being the sweet spot where you're happy you had the second one in a long point, but I'd start at 3.

For 3 man no way you will need 3 full size pods not for pump. You could get away with a few 50 round pods and small hopper. Revvy and one pod maybe if you want to AT a lot. I wouldn’t be way cooler if you just out snap/play em.

Honestly with the right 3 I bet you do better than most would think. ROF really isn’t that big of an advantage in 3 man especially if it’s a full size field.

Biggest disadvantage will be snake side. Playing on your belly and pumping is harder. It’s much easier to shoot one handed with a semi. Guess it depends on the layout.

I'll definitely defer to your experience. I don't play open class or home very often. I just had a friend absolutely ripping with his Autococker pump and figured maybe 3 pods could be shot. 😂

I definitely agree with your second point after the breakout. I seriously think we can make a run at placing in some events with the right 3.

Also, most pump players are going to have (probably decades) more experience than your average D6 player.

Agreed, it will definitely be fun. Get some footage if you can! I wish I lived closer.

Yeah even hammering the AT with a power hopper you won’t shoot three 140 rounders. 3 man points are often quick. I would go with light small hopper setups and play aggressively. The more ground you can take early the less advantage ROF will have. Push hard rookie electo players often hit primarily bunkers and get stuck. They often take a bit to get setup after the initial break. Giving you time to take a big bite as soon as they go in. Just a head check can keep them from moving on you. Watch the break out see who is shooting through inside/outside and caution the big bumps against those shooters. I’m a big fan of the delay shoot the runners and massive bite right after a player makes a primary.

Chuck E Ducky Seems like great tips so thank you, and I've noticed similar trends. It also seems like we have a similar play style.

I played modified SC today against a variety of D4 and below players and found exactly what you said. Taking huge bites off the break made the game feel much more fair. 3 man rookies should offer a little more freedom as well.

As for filming, I think I'm going to start filming and putting things on YouTube with the hopes that I can generate interest. Ive asked around and can't really get anyone to commit which I understand. But I know there's 2 more crazy people out there somewhere.

It dawned on me that most locals that could play pump are, like Ajackz, already in the circuit on space gun teams. The player pool has a lot of overlap, unfortunately.

Talk to local field owners, see if they can drum up interest. Maybe put up a flyer or two.

Yea that's for sure. It's hard to convince someone to put up their space gun and compete against space guns. Alot of us play a bit of everything because we just love to play so it means playing whatever the crowd is playing.

I've definitely been recruiting hard, but I'm not getting any bites. If I can't seem to find anybody I'll hit my local tryout with my electro and succumb to the forces that be. 😢

Max the issue you have is that you are too far from me. I’m sure I could convince at least one more local person to run a d6 pump team. We just have to make sure they are as dedicated as we are to the events. I’d put the cs3 away and run pump all year if we were closer. You are a very rare individual. Finding another Max to round out the trio would be hard.

Even at this point? How locked into your current situation are you? Because to make this happen, I might be willing to make the drives and make sure we can practice frequently. I wouldn't want to put you in a position you have to back out of a commitment though. What a true friend willing to put $2,500 in the closet for a season.

We're both crazy people. 😂 Life's too short to not live your dreams.

Jax is close enough to max.
I’m just saying we need another “max” in the sense of his dedication to paintball. It’s not unnoticed by myself when he drives nearly 4 hours to come play. And he is just so pleasant to spend an entire day with.

At this point I would say that I am pretty locked in. I seem to be leading the Line at this point and I can’t leave Colin and Caden hanging.
