So after I got out of college and started making real money for the first time in my life, I set about building my first forever marker with everything I wanted on it. Over the course of a couple years I built an Emag and used it for every game of paintball I played for several years. Well, paintball took a back seat after the birth of my first child, and the emag when into storage for about six years. When I pulled it out I charged the battery and when I connected it, nothing seemed to work (electronically). I reached out to Sandman, Tuna, Bearded works, etc and didn't find any solutions to fix the issue. The poor thing just sat on the shelf. Well, several months ago, I reached out to Zero X Technologies to repair my Angel board and battery. He talked me into buying one of his Purple People Eater 9volt boards for it. However, when he mentioned he can repair any busted Angel board I asked about my Emag board. He said he is always up for a challenge, and send it in and he would do what he could. I sent in both the Angel and Emag. The angel was in way worse shape than I knew (it looked rough but I didn't realize how bad it really was). Turns out the Emag board was way worse than I thought. The Solenoid fried and destroyed a bunch of components on the board. He sent me pictures of everything that was bad, and detailed explanations on what he would need to do for the fix.
Long story short, he also performed a full service of the Angel (and added the P.P.E. board). Then he basically completely rebuilt the Emag board with parts he sourced and reprogramed it with Xmod. He even added a new green LCD screen on it, which matches the marker. Finally the Emag is up and running again. Of course the battery barely holds a charge so he said he could build me a battery as well.
In the end I was really sweating with how much work he had to put into the markers and I was super nervous that he would send me a $1,000 bill or something insane. However, I was blown away when I got the bill, it was significantly less than what I was expecting and I was so happy to see a way more than reasonable number. We sent dozens of e-mails back and fourth with the project, and he clearly put in a lot of time.
I don't know why, and this is an awful statement, but for some reason I just generally don't trust Angel people...I don't know why, maybe because back in the day when the Angel was the $1,500 marker all the local douches were the ones with them? However, Zero X Technologies are Angel experts, but they are alright in my book. I will be reaching out to them with any electronic work I have in the future for sure.
I highly recommend Zero X Technologies!!!
Crappy pics, but I am in a rush!
