Something to fix your idiot marks

Hey guys,

Did a review of Aluminum Black, something to fix scratches on black parts. Does it work? Yes. Does it replace ano? Not really, but it's still good. If you have time, give it a read. Should be brief enough for even the fastest of poo's.

I've fixed/hidden a lot of scratches/idiot marks with this stuff. Has an interesting smell when reacting... which is probably really toxic.

How about barrel tips? Have you tried to see if clears up dings and rubbing from barrel bags? Thank you.

works on all raw aluminum. older wear might need cleaned up for best results

keep in mind it only works on raw aluminum, if the scratches are old, it will not be as even and clean.
And raw aluminum starts to oxidize within a few hours ...

Black Sharpie for the win

Ive used it on a fore grip. It rubs off with just a few hours of play. Looks more like blueing than anodizing. You could probably use sharpie with similar results

used this stuff for years. works great if applied asap when you get a scratch or ding. i haven't tried it on very old damage but it still worked when i waited a month between the scratch and "repair"
also, for me, it works better on the lower quality (cast?) parts

That's what I use for my firearms. Works pretty good.

I just use the marker/pen version. Works well enough for what it is. You can still see the idiot marks if you really look for them, but they are no longer highlighted with that shine of raw aluminum on a black anodized backgroud.

That's exactly my experience and how I see it as well. Decent cover up, not putting ano guys out of business.

Oddly, mine didn't work great on the aluminum part i tried. I wonder if it was a different alloy, or if I just didn't clean off the oxide well enough.

However, I have a beat up air rifle (er, gun I guess as I also discovered it's smoothbore) I'm rebuilding, and it put a nice black on the front sight after I filed it square again. Black phosphate? IDK. But it looks good, almost factory like a "quick blue".
