    JT QLS Goggle Frame Review

For the holidays i decided to get myself a gift. I really like the look of the JT proflex and like the idea of being able to take the lenses out easier to clean them. I dont change lenses but when i play usually there is at least one goggle shot, sometimes many and the paint gets stuck in the rubber lens holding area unless i take the lenses out and clean it. I end up man handling my lenses and needing to clean them from all my finger prints. The idea that i can keep the same proflex that i like and can quickly take out the lenses to clean them seemed great, even if a bit expensive. It was the holidays and i decided why not.

I have now played about 4 games with the Proflex QLS goggle frames. Three games at my local field and one at skirmish where a lot of shots were taken to the goggles in Stalingrad.

    TL;DR

I dont recommend these sadly. Not just for the price but the plastic that holds the lenses in is super flimsy and already is cracking. I went back to my old goggle frames.

    The Good:

Despite me not recommending them, i do think there are some good things about them
    1. I like that the foam detaches easily and doesnt require hot glue or tape
    2. The chin strap uses a simple attachment system and not attached to a rivet
    3. I like the look of the aqua marine i got
    4. The strap it came with was fun
    5. It does seem to change the lenses quicker than the old system

They are almost onto something with these goggle frames. I like some of the improvements over the old ones such as the foam attachment system and the chin strap not being on a rivet.

    The Bad:

The Quick Change Lens system is quicker but not quick. It takes longer than you think it should to remove the lenses and the plastic felt way more brittle than i hoped. There is a thin plastic front piece that keeps the lenses in place on the goggles. The plastic around the section that attaches to the nose area seemed very brittle.

I kept using the word brittle and that is what the plastic front of these goggles are. After i got home from skirmish my goggles were covered in paint and i decided to clean them. The front plastic face was already cracked in several spots and the fastener on the front near the nose broke! The material is way too fragile in my opinion and makes me concerned if its safe. If the old proflex frames were inelegant in taking them apart at least they were durable. These on the other hand seem a little better but break way too easily if you do the main thing they were designed to do (change the lenses).

The strap system they use is worse than the old way of doing things. To put the strap into the goggle frames i honestly just used a butter knife. These however dont work that way. the two grey plastic parts that connect the goggle frame, the lenses, and the plastic front plate are also plastic and you cant really ram the goggle strap through easily. They seem to have a groove for putting the larger end of the strap through but it doesnt work that well.

    Final Thoughts:

I called up kore today about these and they said to mail them back with a receipt and a description of what happened. To be perfectly honest i was pretty disappointed by these. The QLS not being that quick wasnt good but the plastic front that is already breaking is a deal breaker for me. It feels like you cant really take the goggles apart that frequently with them and that is their main purpose. If you are like me and like the proflex goggles but want an easier way of cleaning them , dont buy these.

The new thins seem pretty good but they are not easy to do a lens change on. I just take the good with the bad. The proflex and Proshield are the best masks ever. I’m more than willing to deal with difficult lens changes for every day comfort and classic design and look. I really hope they bring the new colors and the Proshield back.

Swearing at your proflex during a lens change is part of paintball.

Thanks for the review! After trying to change e lens on a Dye I3 mask I swore I would never complain about a JT lens change.

This. I don't understand why people are excited to have the Dye i3 back.

It's nice that KORE is taking the return with feedback. I was not impressed with the “quick change” system after using CRBN Zero masks for years which literally take seconds to change a lens.

That said, I wear a Proflex now due to joining a KORE-sponsored team. The lens changes aren't that bad, you just have to swear and have strong fingers.

              The QLS frames are trash.

They just need to stop trying to change things. Bringing back the thin frames was a good move though, aside from being way too stiff.

If you know how to do it probably, JT lens changes are fast and easy if the frames aren't hard as a rock. The old thins and "OG banana" frames are a breeze.

They get better with age. The older thins are much easier to change. Because after years of lens changes the lens tabs stretch out the extra material left over from casting. If you take the time to clean up the holes the tabs sit in lens changes are a lot easier as well.

I took some photos to better illustrate what I am saying
. The first photo should show the two components (frames and plastic front piece). The other two show the plastic of the front piece breaking. The zoomed in picture shows the fastener getting stuck and snapping off

The flimsy front panel & ill-designed strap system were my complaints, too! I can switch regular frames faster than this, and nothing feels like it's gonna break.

Stuck mine back in the box and shoved into the For Sale tote, where it'll probably remain forever. Kept the lens, though.

Yeah its way too fragile. If it can break this easy it gives me pause using something like this considering if i get shot in the goggles enough with it.
                    Working...
