Returning player tank questions

I've been away for about 20 years and it looks like a few things have changed. My old mags seem to be working as expected, but my tanks are obviously EOL so I have a few questions:

-I have an adjustable NitroDuck reg, not sure if it is still any good. Worth keeping and trying to rebuild?
-If I go with a new reg, are there any that can put out more than 800psi? The Ninja's only list up to 800 on their site.
-What would be the lightest tank? I need to shed some pounds, trucking around with a stainless gun is brutal now.

Welcome back. If it is the mega reg, they are great regs but heavy.

I personally love and use only powerhouse. I wasn't super happy with the quality of the ninja regs. Powerhouse will set tanks up to the desired pressure before shipping. Not sure if they are carrying bottles now but I have had a GREAT experience in buying from them. I have sent regs in to be rebuilt and looked at with no issues at all. Their tech used to be an agd factory tech too. They are generally more expensive but the quality is fantastic. They are adjustable internally and i would recommend picking up the tool when you buy it.

I assume since your asking about higher tank pressure you are using an rt or xvalved mag? you can also get your mag to rt closer to 800 if that is what your looking for.

Nitroduck bottles had a different sized orphace than what became the industry standard. Their regulators might not fit modern tanks.

Not all of the nitroduck bottles did, but i think your right that some of the older ones did.

Yup, the early CF bottles used a different sized opening and threads. The Xtreme and Mega regulators were the same threads we use today.

Ninja makes a SHP (super high pressure) reg that is 1100 psi I believe.

Thanks, I'll check out Powerhouse. AGD was selling one that was custom tuned for them, but I missed that window. I have an Xvalve and an RT, and they are both happy between 800-900 from what I remember.
I would like a tank that is easy to change output in case I decide to throw it on a pump or a modern marker.

If you run it on a pump you will likely be ok with the 800-900 psi output. modern marker may or may not like that depending on what you get.
In the end if you end up wanting to drop your pressure like that you will find you will end up wanting a separate tank most of the time.

I only run ninja regs at this point. I shimmed a standard reg and it's outputting 900psi which my mag is happy with

That 800psi you are seeing on tbe ninja regs is just how they come adjusted from the factory

Power house regs max out at 700psi but are the best in the industry.

If you’re looking for 900-1100 range I recommend the Ninja SHP.

But like Trbo said you can just shim up a standard to 900psi no problem. You can order shims or get them at any event Ninja reps are at. The SHP just comes out the box designed for the higher pressure your looking for.

As for bottles the Ninja SL2 with an SHP reg would probably be perfect for what you are looking for.

It’s one of the lightest bottles in the industry and comes with a very good reg set to the pressures you’re looking for. They are pricey but considering how long you can use a tank for it’s an inexpensive investment. They come in 68,77, and 90ci.

For instance a 68ci SL2 with SHP w/ a stainless bonnet will set you back about $290.

Interesting they say the TKO only goes to 700 on their website. I never adjusted mine from stock settings i love my Powehouse regs I switched from Ninja due to my hatred for the ball valve reg. Oh I Guess the Haymakers go to 850. I have all Haymakers 1st Gen, 2nd Gen, and my wife’s bottle has the 3rd gen.

Quick question since everyone is saying powerhouse, wasn't it proven that CP made the most consistent regs for the money? I seem to remember a thread on this MCB where someone went through and tested a CP, Ninja, Powerhouse and something else and while they all recharged pretty close the CP was just a little faster and more consistent. I will go into the coal mines of this site and see if i can find it.
The only reason that I ask is a new CP regulator is going to be about 50 dollars cheaper then a powerhouse and I think about the same weight.

I don't understand why the new thing now is tank regulators. We're shooting more slowly than ever before; why care now about recharge rates?

High end markers are so fine tuned that tank reg performance actually make a small difference with some setups. But when you are dropping $2k+ for machining differences what’s a $150 on a tank reg. + they come in fancy matching colors and servicing them is easier than ever. Not that people will actually do basic maintenance until it no shoot no more.

Why does it matter? Unless you have some weird setup you are going to run a regulator on the marker so you can only be as consistent as that onboard reg is anyway

Hey we both know 50 dollars is 50 dollars!

The most common suggestion has been the powerhouse reg and while I like the looks of the powerhouse reg. If OP is just getting back into paintball should he be spending 200 dollars on a powerhouse reg if he can find one, or maybe 55 dollars on an immortal air regulator or even 30 dollars on an empire regulator.
