    Recommendations for a Gun

Looking into getting a paintball gun, but I'd like something more like a military rifle and less like a space SMG. I understand that rifles aren't quite as effective as the normal paintball guns, but would anyone have any recommendations? Does anyone have a rifle-like setup? Or at least something with a stock so it feels like a rifle.

Look at a Planet Eclipse EMF100. Great platform, efficient and easy, used Dye mags, which are great. You can outfit as you need with stock or put a more milsim body.

There is also the First Strike magfed markers T15.

If you are new to paintball I would also say the EMF100 is a good choice. You could also get a Tippmann Stormer or TMC. They allow you to use a hopper or mags. But the EMF100 is going to be almost bulletproof. It would be best for a new player.

        EMF100 as others have said.

My add would be that, for me, a real stock and a paintball mask don’t mix. You can’t get a proper cheek weld if you plan to use a sight. You either have to crank your neck really far over or get a super-high riser for the sight.

That said, and going back to the EMF100, the Planet Eclipse PWR Stock is slightly dropped from the bore axis to help with this.

You want to shoot hoppers, or you want to shoot magazines?

All the above recommendations are fine if price is no object. If price is not a consideration, then any Milsim/rifle recommendation makes sense. However, if you are on a budget or not sure of your commitment to the sport, you may want to look at the Tippmann Stormer or TMC. Both are dual feed systems, hopper or magazine, at a more entry level price point. The Tippmann Cronus is hopper only. Once you decide on where you fall financially and commitment wise, you also need to understand that mag fed play is very different then open class play. If you are heading in the mag fed direction, then you need to decide if you need First Strike capabilities. After that you will venture into the various magazine types and their associated expenses. If you are going hopper fed, you venture into the type of hopper.
Ultimately, you may want to buy a marker that fits your needs more than simple wants.

I would say give an A5 a look. Not magfed, but look a lot like an MP5.
Used are not expensive at all, about a hundred. Work good on co2 or air.
Not normally fitted with a stock, but stocks are available as an "upgrade."
Need Inception Designs or Shocktech Products? Let me know!

I’m with COB . Since you seem new to this, the TMC or Stormer would probably be your best bet to start with. The EMF-100 is a hefty investment for a new player, and a TMC or Stormer would make a solid backup in the event you upgrade. They can shoot from either magazines or hoppers & their mags are less expensive. The only real downside I can see is they don’t shoot First Strikes out the box.

As mentioned before, stocks attached directly behind the paintgun body don’t work well with masks. If you’re using the bottle off the bottomline the stock may make things cumbersome & heavy. If you are dead set on an actual stock consider a remote line setup. Or you could either get a drop stock like the EMF-100 or TMC or just use the air bottle off the bottomline. Or there are gas-thru T-stocks that are minimalistic & lightweight. A remote line would be pretty much required for that though.

I would ask yourself if you want the bottle on the paintgun or if you want to run a remote line. That would help determine if you want/need a stock and what type. Remote lines can be a hassle (setting up, filling the bottle), but allow the use of stocks w/o adding weight & size to the paintgun.

He never said he wanted to play the game, just that he wanted to buy a paintball gun.

If he is interested in the actual game I think he should play it enough to determine what he wants. He may think he wants a rifle now but long guns aren’t great for everything. Similarly, mags are a money pit that nerf your capability. The best guns for basic playing are space dildos and Phantoms. The best guns for buying a cubic yard of extra plastic are Tippman.

I would ask the guy why he wants a rifle in the first place first. If it’s all cosplay then go that route, but he may just want a rifle because that’s what he’s used to with pellets or firearms. Maybe he played once with a JT ER2 and knows he wants something longer than that but perhaps not AR long.

Or maybe it’s a bot. He’s still at one post.

I wonder if the Valken Ripsaw will ever come out. That would be the middle ground between the Stormer/TMC and EMF100.

Yeah, I’m waiting on that too. A FS-capable shooter at that price point is nuts, provided it’s well made. Really want to do a tear down & review of it.

Hi again, I just realized you also made this thread over on AO. In case you see this one first, I have this for sale, tippmann x7 with custom paint and polished internals. If you want to talk about it shoot me a message here or there. I'll get it either way.

Everything else I talked about on AO pretty much everyone else here already said

I've heard the ergos on these are terrible and the hopper skips shots because it's lower than the feed neck. Probably not a great for a noobie especially clearing jams/breaks

Friend of mine has one, he doesn't want to admit it but he has a decent chunk of problems with it. Eyes have gone out, jams, batteries became disconnected. Typically they are fixable smaller things but it just seems to have more of them than most other markers in my opinion

I think hoppers. From all I've heard, magazines are just finicky and best for First Strike.
