Bought a bunch of stuff without actually playing yet, am I a poser or something?

That is a fascinating intro to the game if i've ever seen one. Most new players don't even bother to troubleshoot, let alone tech stuff. Bravo.

Gear doesn't make the player. Experience does. Watch your angles, communicate with your team, and stay hydrated.

I just love taking things apart, and I hate paying other people to fix things lol. Also applies to buying new things instead of used stuff (also vintage stuff is cool!)

Buddy, Im 43, and even though I've played woods, hyper all, speedball, and everything in between, there's still days when I go out and it seems like I'm getting shot out first every game. Other days I go out there and I melt faces all day. Sometimes it's both.

Don't worry about it. Just get yourself a good mask (Crbns>JT imo), and maybe some slider shorts to protect your junk, go out and have fun. That's what it's all about. Being hyper competitive just brings out egos. I have more fun now just filling in on team practice days than I ever did playing tournaments when I was younger.

To add to this knee pads and arm pads if you like to dive or crawl. They pay for themselves

    Where are you located?

Find yourself a game with some MCB-ers. It’ll change the way you look at paintball. Finding these guys was one of the best thing I ever did for my paintball experience (and one of the worst for my wallet).

And as many have said, get a GOOD mask…you can play with a lot of equipment, but you can’t play without your eyes.

Otherwise, have fun and stay away from toxic players/fields…they will ruin your experience and unfortunately drive a lot of potential players away from the sport.

I don't have time to read the whole thread at the moment so apologies if I'm repeating things, but, bro, buying tons of gear and never actually playing is what we DO here

You have solid starter stuff. Use those until you're afraid of nobody, then re-evaluate. By that point, you will know exactly what you don't like about your stuff, and how to adapt it to you.

The first thing you did right, was to join here and ask for advice. This is one of those brutally honest places where no one has a financial motive to lead you astray, yet. Once you are hooked, everyone here has something unique, special or cool that they will happily sell you. We all have way too many markers, too much gear and a pile of bits and pieces to build yet more markers. Welcome to your next addiction.
Also, most importantly, get out and play, be safe and have fun.

the only time I get judgmental about newbs , in any sport, is if a Newb dives in to something , spending thousands, all their gear is all shiny and brand new and colour matchy matchy, and then they find out they don't like the sport \ pastime, and then immediately sell everything......

I made a conscious effort when I started playing again to say that I would play more, buy, and talk less about paintball. But then again I'm pretty prolific on these forums 😂 get an Emek, a good mask, and focus on playing rather than piling up a stash of gear. If you're anywhere near the North East there's a great scene especially if you get into pump guns

He’s in Connecticut so hopefully we will see him at one of our local get togethers.

Get yourself out to one of our get togethers and introduce yourself. We have a great group of ballers in the NE. We get together regularly through out the North East.

Keep an eye on this section. It’s worth the travel, your guaranteed to have an amazing day of paintball.

I agree with everyone here. Just get out and play. If you wanna get better just go out there and play more and more often. Watch experience players and learn from their good habits. Talk to people, ask for advice. Got to local events you don't even need to participate just soak in all that paintball. Facebook is very helpful with finding where and when things are happening. In my personal opinion if you wanna get really good really fast, handicap yourself. Force yourself to play stock class or pump. You live in a state with a good group of pump players. And in my years of experience stock class and pump players are the most fun mature immature groups of people.
