no reason for S.C. Village paintballs big event to be that crappy at that price

i follow some people on Instagram. showing of paintballs was so bad. pump players would be crying or not be able to play that day. the paintballs so out of shape and price of 65 to 70 for case would made me so mad. there no reason why players should have to pay 65 to 70 for paintballs and be so crappy. its sucks that events like this do not order paintballs ahead of time and do spot checks to make sure paintballs good to use. if i where S.C. Village i would be looking for new brand to use. not expectable to play with

The paint is custom made from GI with their logo on half the shell. I wouldn't be surprised if was it purposely made more cheaply to improve their profit margins.
The 5-star did shoot great through my G6R though. Crazy brittle, but the shell broke really well and I had no barrel breaks. I could see how it could be too brittle for some guns.

That’s a big facility to be giving out crappy paint. They should have some serious buying power. Is that a regular thing they do or just a bad batch of paint. I imagine it’s hard to keep large quantities of paint fresh in the desert. All it would take would be an AC malfunction I bet. Especially with the night time temp fluctuations. That would be a nightmare situation before a big game there sitting on a large quantities of inventory paint.

that's usually a onsite storage issue. unless you keep your paint in a climate controlled room this is what happens. GI custom shoots great at both OSG and AG around here, probably the most consistent paint i can find right now.

Currently, if you book a private group they make your purchase their field paint. So I stop booking/ setting up private groups due to that fact. I mostly try to bring regular player/non-tournament type and newbie. I can't justify explaining to people new to paintball the exuberant costs of playing this sport. Especially now entrance is 40 including air but if you play stock (12gram) it is still 40.00. Even though I'm close to it I would rather play somewhere else, and go to a filed that allows me to use the paint I choose to use.

I’ve heard a paint company is trying to make a better paintball but it takes allot of trial and error. I’d like to see two versions of paint. A soft, gel type, easy on the break newbie ball. Then a perfect marble shape with a almost glass like shell that shatters and hurts allot with a full that sticks like rubber cement.

Only decent paint I've used in the last while is Defy. Also used some unknown aged Graffiti that wasn't too bad. But most paint everywhere is bad and too expensive.

I shot the 5 star all weekend. My CS2 wasn't perfectly ball on ball but i chrono'd in at plus-minus 2 fps and was consistently able to hit targets. I used a single .685 insert all weekend as well. We had mag-fed and pump players in our camp and not one us complained about not hitting our targets. I was bummed when i saw dimples in my first bag, but never felt like i was wasting my time putting paint on target. It wasn't that bad.

I play at two fields which use GI paint as field paint. The paint is usually pretty decent, but nowhere near as nice as what you could get 20 years ago. Back then even middle-grade paint shot like lasers. I found that a while back Valken paint was superior to GI in general, but lately not so much.

Over the past few months I've shot:

                    GI Custom paint (local field)
                    GI 3 star
                    GI Dynasty

                    HK Premier (lvl 3)

                    Valken Graffiti

Of them all, the Graffiti was the worst. Our local field paint from GI is pretty darn good, at least the summer blend is. 3-star and Dynasty and HK all shot the same, pretty decent, though HK did have some jelly-beans (probably 2 per case).

Not sure where the notion that everyone is shooting really old paint is coming from. My understanding, at least on the tournament scene, is there's almost a paint shortage, there's very little safety stock unless the fields themselves have it on hand. At least that was the discussion I had with a couple field owners as well as paint reps around early September.

Paint is very location dependent. It’s all got to do with its shipping and storage. Paintballs come off the machine for the most part round. Shipping and Storage will make or break a batch of paint.

Valken so paint has deteriorated in quality the manufacture they are using now I believe is the same one that made that garbage New World brand they were pushing as a “better ball” you can tell by the lil air bubbles in the shell.

That’s good news it’s close and the paint has been disappointing. The loss of redemption then that new world crap they started pushing. The Graffiti use to be my go to lately it’s been junk to. AG had some GI filed paint that shot nice out of my SC market the other weekend I think that’s a custom blend. Paint all round has been pore quality this year. All I want is good paint like hell I will pay for it just make good paint.

Our local field got some Valken Pro in. It is some of the worst paint I've shot recently. I use reballs for most of my testing, and then usually some paint just to double check. Multiple guns would chrono at or over 300 with the reballs, then drop to 240-260 with the Pro. Tried multiple barrels/inserts down to a .675 with no luck in consistency ad preventing roll-outs.

I've run similar events on a smaller scale.

I've personally opened every case of paint with customers when they collect them.

It's time consuming. It's a headache. And it is worth the effort to insure you put on a good event.

Of the "destination" events I have been to only Oregon Supergame has impressed me. I'll go to a Dan Bonebrake event anywhere. The guys at SC village can't bench press that dudes jock.

I was running the largest booth and had the most customers and I never heard one complaint . I was under the big top with the Clowns, Autocockerparts.com and Mozak Machine and not a peep about the paint.. Buy cheap paint, get crap paint....
