They money grabbed the “castle” retirement game last year. Made sure all the attackers used yellow paint (it’s been blue for years) so they had to buy new and had the best turn out in years.
Three weeks later they announced 2023 Castle and pretended this this big finale didn’t just happen.
I’ve spent years trying to talk up EMR, but the way I’ve felt treated there over the last few years, I just can’t anymore.
Happy Birthday, have fun shooting at a wall for six hours while people duck and wipe. -

I can’t tell if this is sarcasm… lol.
If not, attackers aren’t even allowed to breach the castle until all ten keys are found. Once that happens, it’s fair game. Once the first couple people get on the ramps, it’s just a waiting game until attackers pin them into the corner and inevitably win. -
Meleager7 - Even when I was pro-EMR, Castle was always my least favorite game. We always just played it because it was the first big game of the season for a lot of us and an opportunity to party with the friends we hadn’t seen in months. I’ll definitely go back this season, who knows, maybe even for Castle, but I doubt I’ll play much, if at all.
The numbers just aren’t what they used to be. I remember back in around 2015 (ish) the fields would be packed with campers for games, now you can literally count the number of players. People can blame the sport all they want, but I travel to many big fields and don’t see the same problems.

Ya know I just read the event description and this is the first I’ve heard of the castle classic game on Sunday. This actually sounds like a lot of fun. I’m like Riot(shudder that was hard to type
) even when I was a pass holder and went to all the events, castle was my least favorite to play. I always had a blast but I like the other events better.
but a mech only castle defense sounds like it would be worth trying out. I doubt I’ll make it up Sunday but I hope it does well and they keep doing it so I can in the future.Comment

M98punk - We’re trying to determine if we even want to go with all the smoke. Air quality is trash and the park is on the top of a mountain. I’ll know for sure by tomorrow… but of all the games worth asphyxiating for, this is the least worth it.Comment

It seems to have gotten better and there is some precip coming in tomorrow night which should help clear that out. Either way I’m excited for whatever comes, worst case I’ve got a pile of pregens and my Coleman camp table for some tabletop RPG action which taking in the dumpster fire. But also I have a 1k Blazer, Deflator Mag, and viva la gills 98 for the Castle classic

Went to Castle, I think around 2010, and also did a pump only event I think the same year where two (or 3) teams had to capture and hold 4 forts over a two day period. Castle was my least favorite of the two events.Comment

I mean I feel like I am somewhere completely different than where ya’ll were. After the game which was a pretty great back and forth of pushes and denies literally everyone on both sides were talking about how it was just a great day of paintball. No huge drama or attitudes. I’m really glad I brought my two friends who have never played before because they both had an absolute blast! Rolling some dice now then Classic Castle tomorrow!
oh and with my reservations about GI paint I didn’t have a break all day, didn’t even have my level 10 kick in, for like 20 pods.Comment
