I am voting yes to holidays with the stipulation that it is not a holiday that i can get in trouble for, IE mother's day, valentine's day, etc.

It's been a LONG time since I worked at a field and had any (little) say in how big games/scenarios are scheduled...

Personally, I felt that the success of a big game was less to do with being on any specific holiday weekend, but being planned/marketed well enough in advance that folks could mark it on their calendars before their pesky families/friends could fill any availability they may have.

Holiday weekends can be even worse for this.

I don't mind big games being on holiday weekends, but like ford said, planning & marketing would be key. Those games can have lower turnouts depending on the holiday.

I just want games to be on Saturdays. Every time I see a scenario game in my state it's on a friggin' Sunday. I want a day off to recover & clean stuff up before the work week starts.

As a fellow who has suffered the righteous wrath of forgetting/not planning for Valentines and Mother’s Day…. I will never do that to y’all. That is sacred to them.

I am planning for an event on Labor Day Sunday. Just shy of 3 months. I’ll have a storyline, game, ref packet, and brief drafts by Friday next week for the field owner to approve. Once approved I am gonna market the hell out of it.

I also have a Halloween game in the works. That I think will have better attendance because lead time and temperature.

Leave feedback on what would get you to play on a Labor Day Sunday. That is for everyone who wants to leave feedback here.

I'd play any major holiday barring Christmas, New Year's & Easter. I've always either worked or otherwise kept busy all other holidays. I don't work for a bank, lol.

Sunday sucks unless you got a Monday off. I never quite understood why fields do big games on Sunday. For me as a player turned fledgling producer, I will always advocate for Saturday.

If anyone here has an reason why they think Sunday is best for a big game, please let me know.

My only thought is that maybe people just want their Saturdays to do other non-paintball stuff. But that's a pretty weak argument IMO. I do stuff every day of the week.

The thing to me about Sunday is that it is great for locals but sucks for those that have to travel. If you are running a multi-day scenario Sunday morning gives you a nice wrap up point for awards and maybe 1 big push if your story / game requires that. With that said if you have awards on Sunday you should have a draw for those awards, for example a big push, prizes drawn, group photos, or something that will draw people but can be done before noon.

Unless it’s your only option for a weekend then avoid holiday weekends. I’ve never seen a good turnout on Memorial Day or Labor Day weekend and even when I try to throw a backyard game my turnout has been lower. Just my personal experience, you’re fighting an uphill battle already. Labor day picnics are the kind of things that are traditional so you can’t just pencil over them in the calendar early. They’ve already been there for years.
As said you have to be really up on the marketing to get any sort of turnout, but your limiting your potential numbers.

Depends on the holiday. Thanksgiving and Christmas/NYE definitely not. Everything else is fair game assuming it isn't every long weekend.

The problem you run into is that guys with families are prone to going out of town to spend the holiday with the family cuz it gives them usually a 3 day weekend. Better to schedule big game/scenario 2 weekends out from the holiday as it allows breathing time in between.
