I just picked up my first Mag since the 90s and I felt like a kid again shooting a few paintballs before work.

Of course I had it rigged up where I could just run it from a makeshift macro. I could not wait to set it up to shoot it lol.

So here's my question. I googled photos and I check out the forums for ideas on how I want to set it up.

Micro line looped back to the ASA or steal braided quick disconnect. Also looking at some drop forwards.

Of course over time I'll find out what's comfortable but I'm curious as to how you guys run yours? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using Hellion360!'s photo because mine were not nearly as nice. Absolutely love this thing.

Now I am really itching to play. For me I always like to run a drop forward with the mags. Just kept everything more compact and help in balance. Few guys that I saw with mags also used a remote line with quick disconnect.

That's a good way too, keeps your tank on your back. But some getting used to if you like switching hands.

I was thinking of a small drop forward to put it in line with the front grip.

Quick disconnect is something I might try down the road. I tried it back in the '90s with a cheap gas through stock and didn't have much luck. Granted I had a crappy quick disconnect at the time.

I ordered a cocker to mag barrel adapter from Doc that should be in this Monday.

I run mine with a loop of macro up the back, and that is how I built this one.
I usually run a regular duckbill on my mag builds.

Hellion360 That's how I'll be playing with it this weekend. Right now I just have a regular dust black ASA that needs to change. I'm thinking either chrome or gloss black ASA. I've got a foot of Macro and I'm hoping it will loop just fine.

With my mags I have a tendency to run the hose straight from the valve to the ASA, but plugged into the opposite side. I find that keeps the fitting/hose out of the way of my hands. Also no drops, just a rail or direct mount.

I've always liked the way the backwards loop of steel braided hose looks. Biggest dilemma for me is an ASA though. I like the classic look a duckbill gives, but all my tanks have aluminum threads, and I'd like an on/off to prolong them.

Hobbes Crossing the macro to the opposite side makes sense! I'll give it a try.

Toestr I didn't think about thread dmg over time. I'll probably choose a on/off of some sort. I was going the regular duckbill route. Just got this new tank and I wanted to last as long as possible.

Comes down to the color of the ASA. I'm trying to imagine what would look good on it. Really digging that polish black on yours Hobbes.

For simplicity's sake, running a hose foward and looped down to the asa is the easiest I think. It also doesn't get in the way when switching hands to shoot. I dislike drop forwards unless it's for a purposefully nostalgic build. A rail and a nice CP on/off can never go wrong on a classic mag, and functions great. The mag at the top is one of my main shooters for years with this setup.

The other way uses a vertical asa adapter like on your Minimag. Hose forward to the vert asa, then air through a foregrip or expansion chamber, the out the bottom back to a asa. I prefer steel hose for classic mags, and I'll eventually get rid of the macro line on this Minimag for some steel.


Personally, I'd stay away from remote lines. I need to be able to play fast, and switch hands regularly to play different sides of my bunker or cover quickly, and a remote line just gets in the way. There's good reason you don't see them in tournaments anymore, or for the past twenty years, and if you do see them on the field it's usually part of some goofy mil-sim Tippmann setup.

Dusty Bottoms Love the setups. I like the idea of the drop down and then the on/off.

What type of hose is that in the first setup? Also I do like the idea of Braided. Something like this. Of course with the same idea running from the grip to the ASA.

It’s actually a steel braided line with heat shrink tubing around it. You want the standard Minimag setup then with the steel hose and quick disconnect? That’s what I also want to use on mine to replace the macro line on my Minimag. It’s classic and reliable.

Dusty, like your minimag setup. I have couple set up like that, gas through grip with the same quick disconnects. If you have a polish body, xvalve or nice ano mag, you want to put head shrink the braided lines or they will scratch it up

I actually have some heat shrink. I really would like to try to set it up with a braided hose w/ quick disconnect. CP mini rail and CP mini on/off in black. 🤔

This was my backup marker in the 90's. I was at the field and went to lend it to a friend who's marker had just gone down only to find out that everything was stolen. I knew who took it but could never prove it.

Was kind of cool to see how I was running it. Check out that electric tape on the stock 😂🤦🏻♂️
