Questions about a pump mag

- Are pump mags still an open bolt design? Or does the pump kits make it closed bolt?

- I'm also wondering from only looking at roll outs and nothing else, is tighter bore used to keep the gun from having roll outs when it's a pump, or is it like the semi and the detents hold the balls back at a rest? I guess this is kind of part of my first question.

- Are a body and rail that have been milled for a pump kit able to be swapped back and forth between pump and semi?

- Last question is who is still making pump kits?

I haven't played for the last couple years at all, and not very regular for the last 5, so my knowledge on pretty much anything is old. Thanks for any help.

Still open. The pump kit just makes it so that the bolt won't get caught by the sear without some extra help. The action of the pump just nudges the bolt back 1/8" so it will latch.

The regular detents still work as normal. No tighter bore needed.

Yup. Everything is still good to go for use as a semi.

No one that I'm aware of. You have to just keep an eye out or beg effectively if you want one.

What Rusty Brass said is pretty spot on,

Also if you mill a body and rail you can always convert it back to semi by removing the wave spring. The body milling will be hidden by the rail, and the rail will always have that notch in the front of the rail where the pump rod would go, so if cosmetics are something you're a sticker about it might bother you.
As for pump kits being made like Rusty Brass said currently no one has any readily available, you'd have to put out some feelers to see what's out there, I had talked to Luke about it at one point and he said he'd like to make some at some point but that was very close to the bottom of his long list of things to do, I've seen people successfully covernvert cocker kits to work.

But I think its the most easy design to convert back and forth from pump to semi when you want (remove pump kit and change the wave spring behind the bolt with the blue plastic spacer and you are back in semi) no tuning required

One other thing to consider is that you may need a shorter power tube spacer to keep it from leaking down the barrel. Here's the pump mag I just put together. I used a 'cocker pump kit. It's a bit haphazard at the moment but it does work nicely.

Old worn out main springs can be handy too. Sometimes new ones can overpower the wave spring and make the sear reset on its own still. Can turn your gun into a semi-auto with a vestigial pump handle.

Can you take closer pictures of that kit? I have a ccm kit kicking around not attached to anything. Might have to give it a try doing something similar.

A couple pics below. I'm not sure on the brand of this kit. The guide rod is a random length of aluminum sitting around that happened to fit nicely inside the pump handle. A 1/8th screw was added inside on one end. A slot was drilled as well to keep the pump handle from coming off the front or twisting. There is a set screw that goes in the middle of the pump handle. The large hole seen in the pump handle is from a previous owner adding a hitman mod.

Oh that looks simple enough. Makes me kinda think adapting the CCM kit with my very basic tools won't really be possible.
