    Removing a magic box?

Has anyone removed a Smart Parts Magic Box?

How exactly is that done and once you get it off is it as simple as sealing the extra port in the gun with a plug?

Technically yes that is all it is.

honestly id recommend just getting another valve. the port in the dump chamber is tough to get sealed.

I could possibly swap valves with you if you want a valve without a Magic Box. It depends on how easy is it to switch one Magic Box for another?

Help us out here, MCB hivemind, since it is a tad more complicated .I currently have a splah kit for an Automag, including a Magic Box that is currently completely empty, just the shell, nothing more. Is it an easy fix, or is it too much hassle to be worth it, to strip the guts from a functioning (yes, I realize the irony) Magic Box, to an empty one?

I thought the "magic box" wasn't anything more then just an empty shell in the first place?

The magic box has a shell which concealed a small cylinder. The cylinder added a small amount of volume to the dump chamber. So there is more to it than just a shell. Still quite the gimmick though.

body and valve need to be swapped or body needs to be machined to fit the box.

But if you take it off, you'll remove the magic. You wouldn't want that now would you ?

The body has been modified to clear the front connection to the box. Either swap them both out, or remove the box and plug the front hole. You may have to grind the plug flush to clear any other bodies.

Careful when removing, if you go that route. They might have used red loktite... If so, you will have to heat the joint to soften up the compound.

But you'll void the smart parts warranty if you take the cover off!!!!

It's been a while since I've take the box cover off. I thought the front tube has flathead slots. The rear tube is just an extender to clear the cover.

I just decided to leave mine alone since it has the 8 hole mod.

Have you tried whispering Abracadabra to it?

Yeah, you can. But you are stuck with another hole in the valve to contend with. I think it's still 1/8th NPT, so you could just add a mini gauge or something like that, but you are still stuck with a body that needs the slot milled.

Just build and play it. Never had any issues with them in a practical sense and it will forever get you questions about it at the field.
