Small bore barrel for 68 classic

Can anyone recommend a small bore one piece AGD barrel?

I think your best bet would be to grab a Doc's cocker adapter and run any barrel imaginable.

Yes, this seems to be the best option, I'm just so damn cheap I thought there might be another way. I've found some flasc barrels for very reasonable though, so even coupled with the adaptor less than $70 - 65. Do you know anything about the quality of those?

Doc's barrel adapter is great, reliable and fits very precise. I have abandoned Mag twist lock barrels in favor of using Doc's adapter and AC threaded barrels. In addition Doc's Tanto barrel looks and functions great on a Mag. I just slightly overbore my insert and the Spyder style detent holds the ball in place until I am ready to shoot.

Yes either a cocker adapter or freak/python kit are the only ways to get a small bore mag barrel.

The smallest I've recently seen is .685. They were CP and wouulf had a few for sale. My memory tells me I've seen a .684 made by another manufacturer before.

Lapco maybe? Or was that in the day when Autospirit was the smallest?

The original Autospirit I believe was the smallest by LAPCO 0.684 IIRC

I remember both Micro and the Autospirit were small, but not sure which was was smallest. I did look on Lapco's site, but didn't seem like they made mag barrels anymore.

Micro was the smallest back in the day at .684, but now you can find certain threads where micro is .681 (Phantoms, for example). I don't think Lapco has made mag barrels for a long time.

Go with a Freak or some other kind of insert kit. You need to be careful with Automags and tight bores. If the breech is too small, the bolt can stick. Freaks have a larger breech than the insert size, so they don't have that issue. I can't speak for other kits. I've been running the same Freak kit since 2004. Lol

I don't have an opinion on them. I've never used one.

Based off of your name, you and I have a lot in common. Freak inserts aren't in my budget, but what were you using before with cocker adaptor?

I used my Autococker Freak kit. Lol. I bought the kit back around 2004, and it's basically the only barrel I've ever used since.

Like others said, get a Doc's adapter or track down a mag Freak back to get a real small bore fit. Your bolt will get stuck in the breach if you go too small, and I believe the Lvl 10 bolt has a slightly wider face than the Lvl 7 does. I bought a beautiful Lapco Autospirit mag barrel years ago that my Lvl10 bolt would get stuck in it's breach as soon as I shot it. That's when I figured out why the guy was selling it and why it looked new.

While it may not help with the accuracy of the paint, you can use the BW Detents to keep it from rolling out.

Back from the dead - do the Docs adaptors help accommodate smaller paint without chopping the next ball in the stack?

Docs adapter did fantastic for me. You can find Graffiti in the .685 range, and when paired with my Freak, it shot great. I have a real twist lock Freak back now that I have yet to try. If it falls me, I'm going back to Docs adapter.

I also run Lv7 exclusively. None of that Lv10 crap. Lv7 foamies FTW

But, I'll be honest, I haven't tested my Freak twist lock simply because I'm either playing magfed, or I'm using my Gmek. I feel like I've been cheating on my old-faithful Automag.

I think part of the problem is people not using the appropriate twistlock detent for the paint. Which is why I made the one I did.

Why use anything. Automag barrels with the detents don't get rollouts with any of the paint and shoot really nicely IMO.- I've got three i've re-built and run stock with modern paint. Ive got a docs adapter if you are interested though, and they work just fine, opening up some great barrel options.

Because I was getting role outs and poor air efficiency with the paint I had at the time and did not want to pay out the ass for a barrel kit.

While in principle I agree with you that there should be no real need to use inserts with open bore markers in reality there are situations where it helps. With real small paint and stock Automag detents the detents do not hold the ball in the breach reliably and Mags are paint shredders if the ball moves around too much in the breach (always have been). In addition if you are too over-bored velocity is all over the place especially with the eggs people are calling paintballs currently. So I still like to overbore on a Mag but only maybe a size larger then actual average paintball diameter. This helps with having less variation in velocity. This is important to me mostly because I play like I am using a pump even when not using a pump so that first shot is very important to my playing style. The last thing for me is it cuts down on the number of barrels I have to have for my markers. Currently everything I use is AC threaded or Blazer/Pyre slip fit, so I can move barrels around between markers and do not have to carry a crap load of different barrels.
