    Broken field strip screw

So I was just working on one of my Micromags and after a few shots this happened.
Anyone else ever experience this? First time for me.

Now I’m trying to figure out how to remove the valve as it left just enough metal that it’s still catching on the body and won’t come out.

That typically happens when the screw is over tightened. I have had luck removing them with a pencil eraser but that is going to be tough if its stuck in the body.

Maybe a tap out or speed out can do it. If not drill out the broken piece until it clears the body.

I try to pay attention and not over tighten them, but maybe I did this time.

Luckily I had just cleaned this gun and rebuilt the valve since I got it just a couple weeks ago, so the remainder of the screw was just kinda loosely sitting in the valve. The little piece of metal I mentioned that was preventing the valve from coming out of the body was enough for me to push on with a small flathead screwdriver and it just spun right out, thankfully.

Guess my lesson learned is to make sure that screw always goes into the valve easily so if this happens again that screw should be easy to get out.

My Mag is in storage so I can't look at it, but wouldn't it be possible to remove the frame and rail, therefore releasing the valve and allowing better access to the screw stub?

Yes, on a standard mag, but I was working on my Micro so the rail and body are one piece.

I should probably learn to read... Also, can't say I've messed with a Micromag. A left-hand drill bit is another option to remove a stuck or broken right-hand threaded screw.
        Working...
