    Full rebuild?

Hey folks, please bear with me as I'm not a mag guy.

I have a classic-valved mag that is leaking (leaks when aired up in the middle valve area, leak gets much quieter when I hold the trigger). Those in the know have told me it's likely the on/off. I ordered a rebuild kit from AGD, but I'm wondering if it would be sensible to just replace ALL the o-rings or whether I should just rebuild the on/off and hang on to the other spares. Before the current leak the mag seemed to be shooting fine.

    Thoughts?

I would only replace the orings that need replacing. some times replacing the large reg oring can cause it to leak. Oring companies have been getting skinny with orings lately to try and save on material.

Is it leaking from the bottom or can you tell?

Gotcha. I can’t easily tell, but it feels/seems like the bottom.

I’ve had trouble buying the orings from AGD for the reg halves. None of them seem to seal very well. I just ordered a pack of slightly larger 3 x 18 mm orings from McMaster. Problem solved.

you can get away with 114 or 115 buna orings. I have a bag of 50 or so i have been keeping around for that. buna works fine for a static oring like that.

Good luck, sir! I have never successfully fixed a mag. It is my shame.

Cdn_Cuda From what I understand Classics are quite a bit more straightforward, but don't listen to the guy posting for advice lol

ULT is where you were likely having trouble. If you need help give me a shout.

Thanks superman, both are gone now. I traded my first failed mag to you for the System X Dragon cocker.

I've had better luck over the years with "millable gum" urethane o-rings than "cast". I believe AGD uses cast, 90 durometer o-rings. The millable gum are also 90 durometer, but they're less expensive. I've also used millable gum 70 durometer in the static o-ring positions successfully. I have anecdotal reasons for doing these two things, but neither are anything I can prove or claim as facts.
