Turning down stainless steel reg bodies

We all know the SS reg bodes are bricks. My understanding is they where designed to take 3k PSI directly. If this is the case why havent people turned down the reg body by a decent % to lighten up the whole assembly, with the understanding of not going over 1000 PSI input pressure?

The spring pack portions of ANS and most AA regs are direct screw on parts for the classic valve. It changes the look of the gun (which realistically is a likely a major factor someone is running a classic Automag).

Yes. Along with a successful ULT pack mod would make the marker feel and function so much better.

Ults will not work in classic valves.

Vaguely remember people talking about it, but with the understanding that its very possible to render the valve inoperable if done incorrectly. I guess my wires have gotten all mixed up....

When the valve blows apart and takes out an eyeball or 2 you might regret doing this mod. For the weight you will save, it is definitely NOT worth doing.

You'd see threads fail before a valve would "blow apart"

There are literally ANSI charts outlining acceptable max PSI rating which include 20% safety tolerances on stainless steel pressure vessels relating to material type, wall thickness, and O.D

The RT on off in compatible classic valves (most of them) will give you a ult like trigger on a classic valve.

Take a look at the air america reg bodies people use to lighten up the back ends. That is easier than turning one down, but could also give you an idea of how much is possible.
