Trigger airs up, won’t release sear

My friends got this awesome TacOne and he says I can play with it if I get it working. Trouble is I know nothing about mags. Basically, it airs up, doesn’t leak, trigger has resistance and snaps back, but the bolt won’t release.

he says he sent it to agd years ago to have it fixed, but it came back and had the same problem. He may have just sent the valve, I’m not sure on that.

Looks like the trigger rod on your sear is a little long and the on/off pin is trapped. You need a tiny gap between the end of the trigger rod and the back of the trigger when the marker is aired up, its necessary so the on/off pin can cycle properly.

Awesome, I’ll try screwing that in a little bit. Thanks!

To big of a gap is a problem too, about the thickness of a credit card is plenty

Also just a little advise, Autococker guys tend to stroke the trigger, that wont work on a Mag, you want to pull and release the trigger as fast as possible, cleaning broken paint out of a Mag sucks way more than cleaning a Cocker.

I’ll be sure to bring extra barrel swabs haha

Have you tried increasing the velocity? Mags are a balancing act, spring pressure rearward, air pressure forward. If you don't have enough air pressure you can drop the sear but nothing would happen

I think this will be next on the list.

So, I tried adjusting the trigger rod in and out, with no luck at any point. I did notice in my many disassemblies that this pin was stuck way out each time, and didn’t allow me to remove the valve. I don’t think that’s normal so maybe it’s a clue. I’ll be trying trbos increased velocity shortly.

Are you missing part of the on off body?

There is a non-zero chance that something is missing. It doesn’t leak though, I’ll have to look at some schematics.

You have to set the on off pin before you remove the valve. When you degass the marker pull the trigger one last time and it sear will set the pin. As shown in the picture, just push the pin back in with your finger

Did ya pull the trigger after you degassed? That'll push the pin in provided the rod isn't adjusted to be too short.

This only works if pressure is released from the other side. I've had a few mags that the regulators won't release the pressure so the pin just comes right back out

Be sure you're using a tank that has at least 800 PSI output.

so I tried velocity up and down with no difference in the feel to the trigger.

I also pulled the trigger after degassing and that fixed the problem of the pin sticking out.

is there any chance this is a level 10 problem? Those things are voodoo to me.

Is the trigger rod touching the back of the trigger when gassed up?

It was, but there is about a credit card worth of slop in it now before it touches the rod

                800 minimum psi tank?
Check your L10 carrier, remove it and with the oring still in place in the carrier, slide it back on the bolt stem, there should be a slight drag moving it back and forth, if it's super tight, step up one size until you find one that is just snug, if it leaks, step down one size, use the same oring through out.the entire process

LukeAO I’ll give that a shot, I’m trying to think of a way to confirm this tanks output. I’ve always assumed it was 800 as I had mags in the past shooting at velocity and it can recock a tippmann. I might have an old tank gauge I can swap onto an asa somewhere to confirm.

Tighten the field strip screw with a wrench and see if it clicks and starts working...

Kind of. It could be a contributing factor.

If the carrier o ring is causing too much friction on the bolt stem it can cause the bolt to stay put. I would typically expect increasing velocity to overcome this however as you are adding pressure to the bolt.

Have your oiled it recently? Mags love oil in case you are not aware. Drown it

Do you have any other springs to try?

What on/off is in it now?

Here's something to try when you get a chance. Take the main spring out and put the valve back in. Screw your tank on SLOWLY and see if the bolt pushes forward and air starts coming down the barrel. Basically this will tell you if air is getting past the on/off. If it's not then it's probably something with either the on/off or possibly regulator.

To give a sense of closure to everyone involved, the bolt was dry as a bone and I had to yank it off the stem.
