    Colonial body?

So, I bought this Eclipse Minimag in I think 1996 new from the Paintball Planet, and sold it away couple years later. I replaced the plastic / carbon gripframe with the Benchmark 45 frame, which I cut for the double trigger.

I got nostalgic and managed to buy it back in early 2000’s, but in the mean time someone had changed the body and the back of the regulator (now the serials don’t match).

My question is, is this an AGD body or from British mag clone Colonial? Did AGD ever make this kind of bodies?

I live in Finland, and back then we had quite few Colonials around, there was a local shop selling them and I think they were a fair bit cheaper than AGD mags.

The body is what I would call ”highrise slanted powerfeed”. Can’t produce better photos now because I’m away from home for couple of days now, but I can do that later this week.

Looks legitimate. That style feed is referred to as a euro seed.

    And best splash color ever.

Thanks for the info! It seems to offer the benefit of the Powerfeed, but not blocking the "line of sight" on top. My issue is that I'm lefty, so it puts the loader on the wrong side of the gun.

usually you see that style power feed body on rt classics, but I have seen a few of that style for classic mags over the years, from my understanding, their prototype bodies. Also you being in finland that would make sense, seems like more of the obscure parts are overseas compared to here in the US

Yes AGD made that type of body. I bought mine directly from AGD. I still have the sale webpage saved. Approximately 50 were made

This is the body I bought from AGD. My first automag. Always a pumpmag. Only the frame has changed in the 24 years I've had it.

Yup, like Cougar said, legitimate. The Colonial euro-bodies have completely different welding than the clean looking welding AGD did on the factory made bodies. The Colonial body's welding looks sloppier by comparison, and is a dead giveaway.

Thanks! I haven't seen a Colonial in 25 years or so, so I have no idea. I remember that they looked like cheaper clones of Automags..

Yeah, Colonials are definitely quirky, and one I had never did function right. Parts specs were probably all over the place. The coolest things about them, and the sole reason I have an interest in them, is that they made 'euro-feed' Minimag bodies. AGD never did that. Colonial made 'euro-feed' Minimag bodies were even featured in an old Eclipse catalog (before they became Planet Eclipse) as an available accessory upgrade back in '97. You could also buy an Eclipse Minimag that came with a 'euro' Minimag body and splash anodized parts, in various configurations. I think they're very cool and quirky! Your AGD made 'euro' mag body is also very rare and cool, too! I have one of those as well, and a few 'euro' RT Classics.

Edit: just saw you had bought an Eclipse Minimag back in the day.. whoops!

Thanks for your info! I don't remember ever seeing any catalog from Paintball Planet, just ads in magazines like Paintball Games International and maybe Action Pursuit Games. I don't know what was the deal with Colonials, I suppose they had a license or something from AGD to copy the design.

Really nice mags, love the Banzai Green splash!
