    Questions about the xvalve

    Hello everyone,
As i fix up this mag and finally get to use it at the field (the old owner might not have been as good with maintenance as he thought) i have a question for you about a potential upgrade i might one day do and what it entails. The coveted and cool looking X-Valve. A thing i am a little confused on with the xvalve is the fact that in its description on air gun designs website it makes it sound like you can adjust the trigger weight it takes to pull the trigger, but the also sell an ultra light trigger kit separately. Is the ultra light trigger kit an enhancement that allows the x vavle to have the pull lowered even further or is that required to do that? I dont think i have ever seen an xvalve in person so i have no concept of what you can do with it and most searches for this seem to yield the trigger kit and not the valve configuration.

If i did go further with the xvalve i have another questions. I have a classic agd rail and valve with a level 10 bolt and a benchmark trigger frame. From my research i would need a new sear to use the xvalve, is that right? And this newer sear would require a newer rail that supports it? Would i still be able to keep my trigger frame or is that also needed to change as well?

I appreciate the help. I know a lot of the info on this is from a bit ago and a lot of it assumes you know the automag ecosystem.
    Thanks!

The Xvalve is an aluminum version of the RT Pro valve. I think by trigger weight you might mean the RT effect? That bounce happens with higher input pressures.

You wouldn't need a new sear for the Xvalve. It will drop right in.

As far as the x valve goes, the 2 most common on/off assemblies are the RT and the ULT, The RT comes standard with the x valves and has a noticeable heavier trigger pull than the ULT, butis much easier to tune and set up. The ULT kit does lighten the trigger pull drastically, I've set up a few mag builds with the ULT kit installed where the trigger pull is so light you could almost walk the trigger like an electro. The down side is that their adjustable with shims and the more or less you add determines your trigger pull, so some fine tuning is usually necessary.

Also be aware if you buy a new X valve from AGD directly, you will need to break the valve in on your build before its working properly, usually you have to shoot around a case of paint to break the valve in.

As far as sears and rails go, You don't have to get a different rail/sear to work with the x valve, your classic rail/sear will work no problem.
If you wanted to use a different sear, then yes you would need a different rail, the newer sears use a different pin than the classic rails do.

As far as frames go, you wouldn't have a problem using it with your build now plus a new x valve. If you wanted switch rails, you might run into a problem. Benchmark frames had wings that slide into the grooves on a classic rail and most rt length rails are flat, so you would either need a new frame or to mill the wings off to work on a flat bottom rt length rail. Also milling the wings off just makes the frame more compatible, it would still be useable on a classic rail.

Thanks @Magaddon , would you say the default x valve with the RT on/off has about the same trigger pull heaviness as a classic valve? I appreciate knowing that i dont need to swap out my rail and sear but if i do i will need to ether update my frame or mill some of the current frame off. Does a different sear give a benefit or is it more for using newer rails?

The lighter trigger pull is from the ult kit which is compatible with the x valve but not the classic valve. You can put a standard on/off in an x valve but you can't put a ult in a classic valve.

For the rails, there's the standard sear and an RT pro sear. The rail and sear have to be compatible but the valve doesn't matter.

I've tuned my x valve and agree with Magageddon , you can get it ALMOST walkable. It's kind of frustrating how close you can get it but it's not quite walkable. For that reason I'm going to convert mine to a pnumag so it absolutely will be walkable. The ult is kind of fun to dick around with but at this point I'm agreeing with most people, eve RT is the way to go. Much more reliable and you can tune it to get some crazy BPS strings. Mine shoots around 15bps right now and I really don't want it to do any more than that

Like said frames with wings will only work on classic rails and micromags. They take standard sear with pill pin.

Flat top frames work with all rails. Emag/RT rails and lots of aftermarket frames use the threaded pin with sear that has the bushing. All these rails are flat on the bottom compared to the classic rails above.

And like it said above too, any valve will be work with the rail, sear and frame in these setups.

Oh side by side of rail length in case you were wondering.
