Pumpmag decided it was an Automag

I picked up a pump mag here and finally got it out to the field. Replaced some leaky orings at home first, chrono was good, everything worked great. It was the same at the field for the first few games, then it just decided it wanted to be semi-auto again. The sear caught the bolt every time. I took it apart and I don't see anything obviously wrong. The wave spring looks ok, but maybe it lost it's springiness? Any thoughts on why it would revert?

The wave spring would be my thought but possibly also whatever main spring you are using just overpowered it?

Ive found that the wave springs dont last very long at all. And your main spring might have to much spring to it. You might need to cut a little more off.

bolt spring really should be about the tip of the bolt not much further. If that doesn't do it you may need a new wave spring.

I recommend Smalley if you need a new wave spring - best service/ turnaround I've found, and pretty flexible with things like customized designs and one-off pricing.

Do you happen to have the specs for the spring needed?

Thanks for the quick replies, it was the wave spring. Finally got some time and dropped in the spare and it was back to pump status.

Sandman is out of springs, and doesn't have the specs offhand. Anyone have the specs or some springs I can buy?

You could anneal the spring, stretch it back out and then retreat it (heat, quench, then temper). I’ve seen dudes make homemade springs at home with the right wire… not too difficult and could make for a fun project.

                nothing to lose.

I believe that this is the correct wave spring, https://www.mcmaster.com/7764N265/, or from Smalley, https://www.smalley.com/wave-spring/c100-m1

I forgot to follow up, I actually did find those and ordered a few from McMaster. That is the correct part #. Crazy fast shipping too.

Resurrecting this one since I'm still battling this. Wave springs work for about 100 shots then it goes back to semi. The main spring is just past the tip of the bolt, how much can I cut off? What are the risks of cutting it too short? I only have a couple of standard springs, the rest are L10 so I don't have a lot to experiment on.
