    Classic RT Velocity Issues

I've been battling with this beast for a few weeks and finally have it up and shooting leak free. I'm having on last issue before I can get her on the field. I'm adjusting my velocity to 285 using the method of pulling the trigger back and holding, then quickly releasing and holding the trigger back again. This works perfectly. +/- 5FPS with good paint.

The problem occurs when I "go for" an RT effect. When I just pressure the trigger the minimum amount to get a shot off, I shoot 350FPS consistently.

I've changed all of the o-rings. The previous owner had a rather interesting setup on the reg piston (3 buna o-rings instead of the washer + 2x90 U's) which I've corrected. My main theory here is velocity issues = pressure issues = regulator piston and springs might need to be replaced. Before I spend the money, I'd love to hear other opinions. I have a working Tac One with an X-Valve coming Wednesday. Can I simply swap in those springs and piston to troubleshoot?

I would bet it is either the reg piston or the reg seat oring. I would start by replacing the reg seat oring.

superman Thank you for the response. Is it normal for the reg seat to be imbedded in the piston upon disassembly? Also while I wait for orings to come in can I swap in an XValve reg piston to test the piston?

The piston is in the rear of the valve not the front half.

superman Ah I see I made an error with the nomenclature. I thought for whatever reason you were talking about the reg valve pin assembly. Just to confirm I know what the heck is going on (sorry) are you referring to part 25 as the reg piston? I sent a picture of part 34 being stuck inside part 32 (attached to part 30) instead of sitting in it's seat on the back half of the valve

This one is easier to see. Yes 25 is the reg piston. Thinking about it some more, I would definitely start with 31.

Really appreciate you! If I can't fix it, I'm sending it your way. I'll order some O-rings for now.

Following up for anybody having issues in the future. The issue is my Regulator valve pin assembly (part 30 from the picture above). I swapped in an assembly from a working X-Valve and she shot perfect. There is a lot of play in my Classic RT's assembly which may be why the previous owner was running 3 o-rings instead of the washer and 2 o-rings. Who knows, I'm just going to bite the bullet and pay $30 for a new one.
