I said I wasnt going to do it this time... yet here we are

My first semi-auto was a classic mag...that would have been 30 years ago this summer. My last gun was and emag with a blue xvalve, and I sold it about 12 years or so ago. I knew the pieces of my classic where still here, but after Harvey flooded the house I lost track of the body and rail.

I caught the bug to play again this year when i stumbled on a works cocker body and frame, decided I was going to get a couple of guns id always wanted etc etc. Had nonplans of getting another mag, wasnt going to give in etc..

Here's the new one I got for a song today. The old expansion chamber and benchmark frame have been on every mech mag I've ever owned. I got the freak with a more modern black tip( the blue tip was in an old parts box), the freak insert set, the tank and rotor, and the eclipse gun bag for 350, don't think I did too bad( also got a teardrop and stock minimag twistlock barrel and the minimag body)

The bumper behind the bolt has turned to...well glue. The bolt was stuck fast when i gassed it up but has come loose now. It also projectiled the foamie out of the bolt almost immediately. Ill order a rebuild kit and get it going next week, but im not sure what to do with the bolt. I always ran a foamless, can these run without a foam? Or should I just try to get a foamless ordered asap?

Is it a level 10 bolt or a level 7?
If it is a level 10, you definitely want the foamie. Here is a video i did awhile back on how to replace one.

If it's a 10 I've never seen one like it. Looks like an original lvl7 bolt to me.

That is a level 7 foamie. It is the same procedure.

Order a foamless bolt. I can dig for an extra if you can’t find one.

My long nosed foamiless bolts have performed excellently. If you aren't going lvl 10, I would slap one of those in there.

For right now I ordered some foamies and a rebuild kit from AGD and will stick with the foamie bolt until I have the spare $ for a lvl 10.

My plan is to get my original valve out and rebuild that with this bolt on it( unless i find the original bolt) for nostalgia reasons, then upgrade it all to a lvl 10 down the road. I thought about just grabbing an xvalve at some point, but we shall see.

For a Level 7 setup you want the long nosed foamieless bolt.

The Automag: Not as clumsy or random as an electro. An elegant marker for a more civilised age.

Ironically, I pulled my original valve out a couple days ago and the original bolt was still with it, so its now got a formless bolt in it( im not sure if it's agd on another brand, it came with the gun 30 years ago and I cant remember).

Its shooting reasonably well on the minimag valve after i cleaned it up and put one of the blue bumpers I had on it. I also have a rebuild kit for the automag marked valve I've always had.

My general intent is to get a nicer rail for this one, upgrade to a lvl 10, and put the minimag back together in a mostly stock format as a second gun with this more or less ULE mag as my shooter.

I'd like to do something towards a nicer pull. Bearded said to try the rt on off, I also saw Luke has one now

RT on/off does make for a nice short, lighter, but snappy pull. Sometimes you do have to break-in/wear-in the o-rings in the on/off, especially if they want to grab and hold the pin in the up position and prevent it from resetting. I use one in my classic level 7.

Just don't try using the ULT kit in a classic valve. They don't like to behave.
