How do you like transferring air to your automag?

For a long time I had a long macro line go from my asa to the valve, now I am trying out using a gas thru grip and running my macro line through that and then out of the vertical asa to the valve and honestly I kind of like it better. How do you like your air setup? Do you use a gas thru grip? Macro like or braided hose from the asa directly ? One of those metal air transfer tubes I’ve seen a lot on rt classic automags? One of those cool frames that takes the air through the frame itself to the valve?

I've played with just about every option I think there is, and I like running the line behind the grip the best. There are only two fittings to give me problems rather than four, and its out of the way of everything. That said, I feel bent tubing is the prettiest and I've considered learning how to do it just so I can look at it while I'm not on the field.

I’ve used mags with macro going from the reg to the asa & I’ve used mags with macro from asa to gas thru & va to reg. I prefer the latter. It’s just a more traditional feel i guess. I don’t hate running it from the asa to the reg but i still need a foregrip of some kind.

I vastly prefer running steel braid from the ASA to the foregrip and from the vert ASA to a quick disconnect on the valve. It's all neatly tucked out of the way, the quick disconnect means you can still field strip it easily for maintenance, and the steel braid means it litteraly never leaks.

My current setup is macroline, doing ASA -> gas-thru -> valve, but I'd like to do stainless braided hose from the ASA to the valve with a QD fitting by the valve, the one issue is that I haven't been able to find a hose that is the perfect length for me. I also haven't tried very hard to find a hose.

I always end up way shorter then 12", It's been a while since I checked but it's definitely a super short line to fit between the VASA and the valve and still have room for the QD.

Myrkul we're talking about going from the ASA to the valve, so not using the gas-thru at all

I promise I don't rep them - just have bought their stuff and was as impressed as you can be for braided line - it can be made to length. If the length is not listed you can call and they'll do it. I got stainless fittings, jacketed and asked them to shrink wrap the collar on the fittings. I used a piece of string to test what length I wanted.

I like to be able to switch hands, so that rules out going behind the grip (and remotes).

I like macro line for the weight savings. You have to deburr the ends once and maintain the fitting o-rings. I keep extra hose around for replacement. It's a process.

I usually go ASA to foregrip and back to the valve.

I used to mess around with my mags enough that metal tubing was kind of cumbersome to work with. It's pretty though.

              im with BLachance75 !
braided stainless around back to QD on valve (not pictured, but ive got it setup like that currently)

right handed feels better but doesn't interfere when changing hands for me,
but i like going valve right to asa leftside.
as a bonus, "serving tea" grip is especially comfy when you can wrap your fingers around the 90° out of the asa

i like gutted wgp regs for foregrips, lightweight and i think mags look best tube-y as possible

I prefer more compact. My current favorite. (not really a glamor shot, but it shows my preference)

I'm a lefty and the cross over behind the grip never worked for me.

I prefer the look of the steelbraid with a QD going out the right side of the ASA to the valve.

This airline set up always drives me nuts because I feel like my hand either grabs the line OR my hand gets squeezed under the line. Either way it's very uncomfortable to me.

Myrkul admittedly, I have knocked the valve connection loose from bumping the hose over a day of play. To me this is the closest I can get to macroline level field stripability, but it isn't perfect. Just what I prefer after trying it every other way.

I use bluetooth. Unfortunately the throughput, and latency just can't keep up and looking to upgrade.

I like one big braided line. From passenger side of valve to drivers side of bottomline asa. With shrink tube and a quick disconnect.

Don't mind the other ways but when I have my preference the foregrip is just a lightweight tube.

Tried Hard lines they suck! I will do braided if the CCM fittings give me too much trouble.

Maybe I need different fittings to make them work. Are yours fixed at a 90* or do they swivel?

Swivel, which you need for assembly.

Yeah mine just swivel out of the way and pop goes the hard line. I’m using CCM fittings so maybe that’s why. They hold less of the line so it’s not wedging itself in.

whos got a magic box with a straight fitting to 3ft of braided coiled up and ziptied back into a straight fitting into the side of a drop foward duckbill?

very common back in the day ☝️

Back in the 90s I had a mag setup very similar to that. I'm not a complete savage so I went with 90* fittings on the valve and duckbill.
