No regs on AKA's site. No ETAs on stuff coming in. Is this company operating?

I want an AKA 2 liter with the high pressure spring, and can't get it from AKA. What's the deal guys? I communicate with the owner and for about 3 weeks it's been the same ole story. "sidewinders are coming in at the end of the week. Get one of those. They're better than 2 liters." I check the site frequently. I can't believe that even the sidewinders were in stock at any point in the last 2 weeks. I really, really got the impression that he doesn't even wanna sell me a 2 liter or deal with them. He just wants to do sidewinders. That's my interpretation and could be 100% wrong, but that's how I felt.

The guy seems very nice. He's told me AKA is his side business, but why do it at all if it's messy, unorganized, and overall an afterthought? The shop making parts for AKA has no ETA on when they'll be done. Then why doesn't AKA get a different shop? Businesses shouldn't be giving these excuses. Businesses don't take these excuses from each other in the corporate world. Businesses certainly don't typically give these excuses to end use customers.

I am not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling that a 2 liter will be in stock at any point in the next 3 months much less the next 1-2 weeks like I'd like. Even if I do get my 2 liter; when I need spare parts in 2 years AKA won't be around. They'll have gone under at this rate.
There's no stock on anything meaningful.
    There's no ETA.
There's no way to sign up for in stock notifications.

    There's no way to preorder.
I asked if he could invoice me on PayPal, allow me to pay, and then ship when it's ready if that would be in the next month, and that was just overlooked.

What gives? Recently on FB in an autococker group a user left a comment in a discussion where I asked how and where to get a new 2 liter from a 3rd party. He said, "AKA should be listed in a text book of how to turn a desirable company with good products into a failure."

Can anyone give me background? On the company and what the hell is going on? I really want a 2 liter. They've been legendary ever since I started paintballing nearly 20 years ago, and I love the look of them. If I'm gonna be waiting 6 months (or more!) lay it on me, and I'll have to settle for a used ego reg or something for my build.

Unfortunately you just have to have a lot of patience for stuff to be stocked again. As you said it’s his side business and it seems like he doesn’t have a lot of free time. A close family member passed away not too long ago so I’m sure he’s been focused on other things than paintball equipment.

I can definitely understand your frustration - I went through it trying to finish off some projects recently.

As of now it seems like the only options are finding parts 2nd hand or waiting.

The single individual owner/operator is a Full time firefighter.

2 liters require significantly more machine time than a sidewinder.

Regardless if you want one or not most shops require parts runs of over 100 parts to even place an order.

It would probably take him 30 years to sell 100 2-liters and they would likely be $200 a piece.

I wouldn't expect to ever see another new manufactured 2 liter in our lifetimes.

It is just what it is. shitty.

Man....I hope that's not true. I'll just ask the guy what it's going to cost to get one and if in fact he does plan on having one eventually. If he doesn't I'd just like that honestly told to me.

Any idea of who might have a long forgotten 2-liter they'd have laying around and be willing to sell? Where can I even look?

Unfortunately you're best option is likely going to be Facebook Groups. Not too many active AKA owners anymore in the first place and that is likely going to have the largest concentration.

I visited Jared’s place a few weeks ago to grab a few things. His shop is his own and mills a lot of his own parts. He has his own lathe and cnc, but yeah he works full time as firefighter and has kids. aka is a passion project for him he is supporting what he can, it does mean a few things are lower on the list for him than others. Either way his products are great.

If there are parts on the AKA website showing up as in stock, has this been accurate for people looking to buy some AKA parts?

I was looking at the JDS LPR for an angel LCD and I see that as showing in stock along with some other misc parts like tools for tuning a viking or excal, versus the unknown date for the AKA HPRs that other people have been looking for

I ordered a bunch of stuff from him that showed in stock last fall including a 2 liter. I got everything. It took a little while to ship, but I knew what to expect.

If it’s in stock from my experience it ships. I ordered a 2L+ w/ Hp spring for a project and got it in a few weeks. He definitely makes the best regs on the market. I have no issues waiting for quality.

There are very few paintball companies that arn't a side business to a job that actually pays the bills. Just have to be patient. Just think, back in the day you had to order stuff over the phone from magazine ads. Not sure what parts on a 2-litr your worried about wearing out that couldn't get in 2 years, but I have only ever had to replace seals. I have switched over to using sidewinders from 2 liters. I have over 20 2-liters that are on builds. An issue I have come across is the main sping flats, that sit agins the piston, arn't perpendicular to side of the sping, causing the piston to tilt/wear on one side. It has also caused some other issues. I had this issues with AA regs back in the day. The sidewinders use belleville washers stacked as springs, and don't have this issues.

Sidewinder should be coming soon, my dad just picked up a big batch of them for our team guns. Didn't have him ask about 2-Liters unfortunately.

I might have to order 3 raw ones for builds, rather than get some reanod.
