    2004 Excalibur

I have a 2004 Excalibur that seen very little field time. I put it away about 20yrs ago and it sat in storage. A buddy cranked the lpr up and it hissed down the barrel. I have the special tools to do the orings but I'm wondering if there is anything else I should be looking for while in the marker. It only had about a case of paint put through it since new.

Im not knowledgeable on aka markers but typically when a poppet leaks down the barrel its the cup seal. Also aka is still around here is a link to there parts page should you need anything that would be difficult to find elsewhere https://akapaintball.com/products/repair-parts

Ty for the reply. I kinda feel like a idiot now it's the cup seal. It's been 20ys since I've touched a marker and I'm a little rusty but it's coming back.

You will want to remove the bolt and check down the bolt ram tube. That can also give you the sound of a leak in that area. Raising the LPR would impact that area, but not the cup seal, so its a possibility.

I had a similar leak down the barrel on a Viking. It was the ram cartridge leaking. I was able to determine this by sticking my finger in the breech (bolt removed) and air was not leaking from the valve port but further back. I do however think the valve is the most likely candidate in general, but as another reply pointed out the LPR will impact the ram cartridge but not the valve.

I think regardless of where the leak is you’re probably going to want to replace all the seals after 20 years so it may not matter so much where this leak is as much as the one you find post-rebuild.

That’s unfortunate that you cannot play. The good news is that it doesn’t need a rebuild if you’re not going to use it, and a prospective buyer at this point will generally have the knowledge or motivation to do a rebuild themselves.

Croix, You make a excellent point that it doesn't matter either way.😂😂 If I sell it the buyer knows what they are buying and new seals would make no difference in value. But if I keep I would know that it doesn't gas up and it would drive me nuts. The next question is what is the value of a extremely clean bone stock Excalibur? I put about a case of paint through it so I would say gently used.

I know what you mean re: It driving you nuts knowing it’s broken. As far as value goes I have no idea. My last AKA purchase was also brand new 20y ago! I do know the forums are great for appraisals but not sure what the rules are on submitting one.

I'm no expert but clean 04 Excals are rare these days. I'd say start high around $800 you can always go down. The market is a little low right now but Vikings are normally going for $500. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go for a grand just because of the rarity.

theres a couple things that could be causing it, I would actually guess a valve o-ring might be dry-rotted, it happens, especially when they sit for a long time like that.. the cupseals are really durable, age shouldnt be a factor with that part.
as also mentioned, move the bolt while its gassed up, if the sound changes, its likely one of the internal o-rings in that case, and the carts require some "finesse" to open

i would pull the valve out and check the 2 015's on the outside, as they can also create a "leak down the barrel"
