    Milling

Been working on a couple things.. I actually have been slowly buying up aka markers whenever they pop up for a good price for the last 7 years, but didn’t make any meaningful progress till recently.. so first thing I started on was making FSP cuts… which is simply just removing material around where the regulator screws in.

Easy enough… and then I proved out my “featherlite”code for the Excalibur … the pucker factor was high here because one mistake and there goes $1000-$1500 if you can even find one..

The stress level for my 02 Excalibur code will be significantly less.. I bought a body off eBay that used to have a nickel plating but was improperly stripped leading to massive pitting.. so I’ll do what I can to clean up the critical surfaces and machine down as much of the outside body as I can.. still need to find a board tray, bolt and bolt ram for this one.. figured I’d toss an MQ valve in it and make the internals wild

Hopefully you can salvage that extremely pitted body. If it’s the one I’m thinking of with diamond cuts on it. Then I believe at one point it was an “Edge Excalibur”.

Don’t mind the board tray, it was/is my sacrificial lamb when I test milling

Always wanted a Viking or Excalibur just never bit the bullet. These are looking great!

Do you plan to take any work in the future? My Excalibur needs to go on a diet

Most likely.. while I’ve proven out my models, the programs need to be optimized for time and finish.. I ordered like $500 in new endmills because I haven’t been happy with the finishes I’m getting.. I used to get parts off the machine that could damn near go straight to ano but I broke them and haven’t been able to find adequate replacements since.. :/

I have a half milled ‘03 Viking that I’d like to get similar mill pattern as above.
