Milling ‘04 Viking

Is it possible to mill an ‘04 Viking for a “wire nub” style detent? Essentially having the possibility to switch from dual or quad detents to a wire nubbin detent on one Viking.

If it’s possible. Has anyone done it?

Yes, I have both ‘03 and ‘04 style Vikings.

Anything is possible but I can’t say that is the direction I would go personally… I’ll likely be machining my projects for rubber style nubbins.. particularly Planet Eclipse detents.. they’ve proven their worth and been around long enough that I’m not too concerned about being screwed if they ditch them

More or less, I was thinking and figured I’d ask here. It wouldn’t be worth the time, effort and money. The industry moved away from wire detents for a reason.

Seems like a good idea using PE detents.

You'd have a big ugly mess. Wire detents are the best no design is better. But they take up a lot of space so a tiny little piece of rubber you gotta keep buying is practical in a number of senses.

But wire detents are the best.
