Ok so as some of yall know I'm building a first cocker, well I want to order pneumatics next but idk what I want to use, other then stock wgp what's out there that isn't an arm and a leg, I want to use either a ID or empire 3 way as they are easily adjustable but what about rams and lprs, want the lpr to be on the lighter side as I know some are heavy

Also will resurrection front blocks fit mini cockers and/or are their others shaped like it that will work

as a guy who's build lots of cockers, my 2¢

Choice imo should be between inception and shocktech 3way. (I favor shocktech slightly)

As for full sets of pneumatics, shocktech, inception are the best readily available. Empire sets are great cheap sets.
dye pnues and big and bulky, belsales/planet eclipse pnues are regarded as the most prized sets, but very expensive and functionally same as inception or shocktech. WGP pnues in all their more modern varieties with adjustable LPRs are nice to use in builds as well.

Empire mini front block has a notch that will only work on a round front body like a Karni, super stock, inception empire bodies, some other inception bodies.
Freeflow has some great mini front blocks if you can find one, inception makes a great one, and the mini Orracle front block has a cool 15 degree angle forward vasa.

I agree, Eclipse stuff is really overpriced, but performs the same.
I guess we all need bragging rights.

How you time the parts and how easy it is to get it perfect (or acceptable, LOL) is the key, in my opinion.

The weight differences between High Pressure Regulators seems pretty negligible.

Some of the older HPRs are pretty nice (Palmer, Center Flag, ANS, Etc)

I'm not sure if ANS is really selling any `new` HPR. They are all selling NOS (New Old Stock) gear that was made 10-15 years ago.

I go with Palmers, great stuff.

You really can't go wrong with either inception or shocktech pneumatics.

Inception 3 way will require specific timing rod that is 5-40 thread. Most timing rods are 6-32 thread. The sizes do not run exactly to size. They are made with their frame and parts in mind.

Shocktech does have a boss on the front of their 3 ways that once the set screw is loosened can be turned.

Both rams and lprs are solid. shocktech has a little bit longer stroke, but can be shortened up by adding an oring if you don't like it.

If you need either Inception or shocktech give me a shout. I will be shipping from Mount Pleasant, SC so it should get to you pretty dang quick.

I also have inception mini front blocks in stock too that will work with the orracle body.

5-40 vs 6-32, wow good to know.

5-40 is really a strange choice for a timing rod.
I guess it would add a small bit of adjustability.

light LPR would be, Oracle, Macdev sonic, CCM, belsales / evo

Personally i am not a fan of the above. WGP lprs use a crimped reg seat which has to be replaced when the time comes. ccm has an aluminum base which i have seen snap and belsales/evo are expensive.

since weight was mentioned. I had these in arms reach:
Inception lpr 2.3 oz no barb installed
jackhammer 2: 3.1 oz
shocktech 2.5 oz
wgp bullet lpr 1,1oz

inception lpr is standard orings.
Shocktech is standard orings with the exception of the shrader valve, but they use a higher end one that rarely if ever goes down.

Inception Designs 3 way is amazing. I actually like it better than Shocktech Bomb, adjustment with hex key in the front is a complete lifesaver.
All Shocktech pneumatics are amazing even though pricey (except for the above).

I have an inception ram and several ST rams (going back 20+ years), but I have not noticed much difference between the two.

LPR, I have not seen the ID LPR, but the ST LPR has been really solid in my experience.

(Shocktech Gunfighter 1.5 frame is just wow. But $299??? Ugggh.)

I seriously must be the only person who really dislikes shocktech pnuematics. Compared to ID, Belsales, even stock (2k+), ST is underwhelming.

If you want best performance, full stop; ID ram, ID 3way, Macdev Sonic LPR. If you want good value, either a full empire set (not the easiest to source) or WGP. A one piece, non adjustable 3way, bullet or can LPR, and STO ram. Not always the easiest to find any that aren’t chrome (except the ram), but that’s one of my favorite sets possible.

3ways: belsales STO 3way, ID, hollow pioint, ST Bomb gen 1 with their red orings, WGP CT, CCM, ANS gen 1, Chrome STO
rams: Belsales .44, evo, shocktech, moodys, CCM the tapered one
LPR: belsales, evo, palmers, sonic, ccm

the shocktech rams, and ID 3ways are the quickest to setup

To the cocker builders in this thread

If my goal was to build a nice, higher end cocker, would it be fair to say that I should stick with one manufacturer for the front end if my end goal is a more reliable/ smoother operating front end pneumatics group that plays well together

For example, if I go ID for one front end component, and with ID using some not as common sizing for hardware, like the timing rod being threaded 5-40 vs the more common 6-32 it seems to make more sense to get the whole pneu group from ID or vice versa if I picked a shocktech pneumatic

Is this a fair statement? trying to be succesful on my first mech cocker build

I tend to be rather snobbish about using the same pneumatics but I do it simply for OCD reasons than anything else. I've done plenty of guns with mismatching stuff, many where each piece of the front block is from a different manufacturer, and it usually works out just fine. As long as the individual pieces are functional, there's no reason why they won't work together. That said, tech support and how easy it is to source stuff makes a pretty big difference, and it's one of the reasons I recommend ID. It's also one of the biggest reasons people recommend ST.

But no, you can absolutely throw random junk together and not only make it work, but make it work really well.
