help with getting a cocker to shoot over 220

um went a few cranks in, wasnt having as profound of an effect as i was expecting, still only got up to like to 260, not anywhere i wanted to be

i did get some air today, will test tomorrow with the lighter springing. feels really damn nice at lower LPR pressure (less main spring to fight)

also really happy that its not having any sealing issues with as many times as its been in pieces the last month

so current headache status, tried valve spring d (lightest) and main spring D, started with reg at 0 and nudged the reg back a little at a time while shooting over the chrono until i couldn't hear the pressure go up anymore i did it 2x with the D + D combination, never had a ball read over 000, which means really low 200's and under swapped the main spring to C, and was able to sweetspot the reg at 280psi, to achieve 225FPS, cranked in the IVG until i was having recocking issues, got to 250

i have a spare tornado valve i keep handy for my viking and excal, in case of emergency.. i think this qualifies

or is there some fatal flaw with the inception open face bolt i should be aware of?

because nothing else in the airpath is making sense

Try more pressure in the reg, 285, 290, 295. I have a VF tactical that sits just below 300

higher pressures were causing the FPS to go down, hence "sweetspotting" of the reg

did test with a trident bolt to see if the bigger air path made a difference, about 25fps, so yes, but that still has me at 250 fps in a spring configuration that im not fond of

i have swapped to the lightning valve (its been in my other resurrection, so i know that works)

and i noticed an issue with the HPR not going below 250.. i dont know if thats a one time thing or what, but i pulled out a spring, and it zero's now, and i can still adjust is past my tanks 450 output, so we are good

ill have to give this one the "one nudge at a time" thing when i can find some time

I had similar issues with my fully custom resurrection, similar to your build. The issues seemed to go away when I used a different valve (Spyder EKO valve modded for non-blowback) and trident bolt, but I have been planning on putting a new inception valve in it since I was coming from a damaged inception valve and damaged open-face bolt. I wonder if I will have similar issues restoring the build to all Inception cocker parts or not. I have heard of users drilling out the inlet port on the early inception bolts due to velocity issues, but if you already swapped to a trident bolt and saw improvement but not a solution then I'm not sure it's the answer. I have a stock Resurrection bolt and valve as well, I'll be able to tinker with it all when I get my new parts in roughly a month.

the camouflage one is using a stock ressy bolt still. and i did see a jump of 25 fps with the trident bolt i have out of another build

i also have a Tech T i could drop in there, and that one wouldnt have the flow restriction either.. i still have 2k air left, perhaps i can find some time to test this evening

and i will admit, the openface bolt does have a very small hole, but in theory it shouldnt matter, the old AKA bolts were always awesome, and those were not huge ports either. and im totally fine if all it takes is a new bolt to fix it with the new valve

Check to be sure your valve didn't twist as you tightened the retainer.

That was actually y first thought but given the ID valve design, as well as the fact that it's an 11/16" body, it's unlikely the valve would have rotated.

I don’t see it mentioned yet, but when I had one I seem to recall there with issues with the ASA on resurrections and snipers fully depressing the ninja tank valves. If you haven’t yet, you might try a different tank or asa and see if everything becomes happy.

Yep. The Ninja tank regs with the ball bearing valve "pin" were an issues with a few different types of ASA's.

holy crap its working.. and all it took was a new bolt

tornado valve was maxing at around 260fps on the trident bolt with the ivg flush (about the same as the inception valve, so, it wasnt the valve). figured its never a bad time to try all variables at hand, so i grabbed the TechT bolt i never used that i got in a hustle mystery box forever ago. and the next 3 shots were 293, im finally where it needs to be and can actually be used,

larger questions aside about the WHY it did this dont need answers right now, but this might be a good excuse to get one of those borescope cameras for my phone

I didn't feel like my most recent iteration of my build using the Trident bolt was as easy to get up to speed either, although it wasn't that difficult. I'll have to try dropping a stock bolt in for comparison. I definitely knew about the issues on the first gen open face ID bolt that Simon said was just due to a "very small tuning window", but later versions made changes to address it.

I just pulled out my "resurrection base" build to look at my Trident. It looks great for flow with a HUGE valve port, but I'll have to see if the open face stock bolt or the old ID open face are significantly better or worse respectively.

looking closer at the open face i think i can see part of the problem, its not the hole in the bottom, its when it turns and cones out the front, the back part of that cone is a lot smaller than it probably should be... so instead of a quarter inch hole at the inlet that progressively gets larger to the outlet, it stays a quarter inch until its straight and lined up with the exit, THEN it tapers

though i could be wrong too, wouldnt be the first time

also for anyone curious the reg sweet-spotted at 290 on the tornado valve
