Skipping shots: Short stroking or loader issue?

Have an '03 vert feed and played a couple of games with it yesterday after not touching it for about a month. Brought it out to shoot less paint but got into it with some of the regulars and ended up shooting a lot more than planned. Noticed that sometimes it would start skipping shots - where every 4th or 5th or so shot, it would just dry fire. Then next shot would be normal. Mostly happened in one game where it was 3v1 not in my favor so I was shooting as fast as I could for a few pods. But the dry firing was very noticeable.

It wasn't double feeding after the dry fire so don't think I was short stroking but not positive. I had a Revolution hopper on there (not sure which one but it takes 2 9V) where before I used a Halo Too. Not sure if the loader just wasn't feeding fast enough. Never was an issue with the Halo but I also didn't get into a sustained battle either, mostly bursts of 4-5 balls.

Didn't swap out loaders so will try that next time. But curious if I was just outshooting the loader or if there is another issue.

You might have been outshooting your hopper... I can do it with very few markers but it's possible.

If you've got some blowback up the feedneck that might be preventing the hopper from feeding quickly, too.
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

I would check your bolt spacing to start with. Maybe unscrew your back block by one turn. It kind of sounds like paint is not feeding in at all. I'm betting the halo too had enough force to squeeze the paint in a bit but the revy really doesn't have any force behind it.

I'm kind of doubting a short stroke based on what you said. I would expect you to see at least some double feeds

You probably have blowback. Load 2 balls into the breach and fire. If the second one launches into the stratosphere... that's your problem.

Thanks all, will check bolt spacing and test for blowback. I've outshot the Revy on electros but didn't think it would happen here so suspecting something else is happening.

I agree most likely bolt spacing or a blow back issue. I really prefer force-fed loaders for mec play especially if you want to shoot fast. May just need some adjusting if you want to run the revvy.
