    QEV/TRVs on a mech cocker?

    Do QEV/TRVs make a noticable difference on mech autococker? I understand that they help the ram cycle faster by releasing excess air, but if I am not using an e-blade or reflex kit would it still equate to a higher ROF or a snappier/more responsive pull?

    It will... but it also makes it tough to time properly, in my experience.

    That extra delay that is the air traveling backwards through the hose from the ram, to exit through the 3way vent, often band-aids any minor problems with your setup, like a sticky trigger plate, light trigger/sear springs, etc. Once you remove that, it gets tougher to tune and then keep running properly.

    I guess I worded my reply poorly - in no way do I recommend tuning a Cocker like that. My intention was to highlight that any existing problems that are being crutched by pneumatic delay ​​​often appear with the addition of QEVs, and thus, to an inexperienced Cocker owner, can be quite frustrating.​

      In theory yes only in higher ROF, but in practice won't get to that point due to human limits. Hell QEVs on electro aren't even needed for a stable 10.5 bps. Everything you feel is going to be reflected on how fast you can pull the trigger. If you want to feel something snappier or responsive go polish your plate, get a good roller sear, file your lug, remove all slop from the plate or rod, do something that you will actually feel.

        I completely disagree with this type of tuning, and a QEV makes tuning easier not harder.
        If you have a sticky plate or light springs - replace them and clean the plate. Do not bandaid your markers, tune them correctly and enjoy your efforts.

        The return ram cycle compresses gas on the 3way shaft increasing the trigger return force required.
        On long 3way travels like a stock WGP, the QEV will allow you to shorten your trigger pull to just past the 3way hole. Without a qev you need further travel to vent the air properly.

        Exceptions: You do not "need" a QEV when using a 3way which have extra vent holes, like a ST bomb, hollow point, inception 3way, etc. Marginal benefits.

          None of my mechanical autocockers have QEVs and I’ve been perfectly happy with their performance.
