    Back block weight

Does BB weight really even matter, are derlin BB's worth it

    #2
The concept is pretty simple: less mass moving back and forth means less wasted energy.

Practically it probably doesn't matter since the weight difference is what an ounce or two?

I do like how the techt one looks though so I run it one my main cocker

On second thought look at the size changes of wgp back blocks over the years. If it was pointless then Bud's back blocks would have been the chunky early ones the entire time.

Less mass moving around will make for a “smoother” shot.

Lightweight bolt, back block, and pull pin are the easiest autococker upgrades.

Personally I do use lightweight back blocks and bolts on a number of my autocockers, but honestly stock is just fine too. Besides, if I feel like having a super smooth marker I’ll just pull out my Eclipse CS1 and close the SFR as much as possible 🤣

If it's not that noticeable then I'm not going to worry about it and just match it to an accent color I guess, i plan on a ID bolt and pin

Also whIle im mentioning it is the ID bolt really worth the money or will any decent derlin bolt work, I hear good things about the shocktech bolts

I like the ID trident bolts, because they work in all bodies, especially weird ones. Simon caught some flak from the first several bolt revisions, by trying to make them efficient, but not necessarily compatible with all cockers. Some bodies have the valve hole in a slightly different spot than wgp and as such missalign the bolt hole. The trident bolt has a huge inlet port which solves that, they also ship with other orings that fit differently in case you have a body with a larger bolt hole.

I haven't seen any alignment issues with the shocktech bolts either and i like both.

Give me a shout if your looking for a new one.

I would argue it is really useful for an eblade or a race gun, but I think a bit of weight moving is almost charming on a mechanical cocker

I shoot a Bob Long Signature Series complete with a birdcage. They really don't get much heavier than that. In my experience, it's really a non-issue.

Does anyone know the durability of the delrin back blocks like the techt? Seems like they would strip out the pump arm threads eventually with the force an E-cocker puts on them. Even without the backblock hitting the body its only delrin vs stainless steel pump arm threads.

Oh ok good to know. Thanks. Maybe I will have to try one of these delrin backblocks on my eblade. The threads on the stock one still hold but they are getting a bit wobbly after over 100K+ shots.

loctite the old one to the pump arm. It will help keep it going.
