Autococker - Reciprocating Parts Weight List

I swapped some lighter parts onto one of my WGP Black Magics recently and I decided to weigh them (plus some others for comparison) with my kitchen food scale so I could see how much total weight I cut.

The original combination was:
(Orracle bolt 65g + Orracle Pin 13g + WGP Black Magic BB 27gr) = 105 grams

Final combination was:
(Spine bolt 29gr + inception pin 2gr + slik bb 6 gr) = 37 grams

It definitely makes the marker feel noticeably smoother.

It's interesting to me how heavy the Orracle Bolt and Pull Pin is given that it was WGP's flagship for a while. Even the Worrblade bolt is a tad on the heavy side compared to some of the other options.

However shooting reballs with my hand chrono in the basement I did notice that the WGP Orracle bolt and the Worrblade bolts generally seem to fit better than most on my autocockers (it wasnt unusual for them to get 15-20 fps higher than some of the other bolts - I should have tested a few more of the others while I had my chrono out).

I'm curious, does your Worrblade bolt have orings? Because I swear I recall WGP releasing two versions of that bolt, with and without orings. The bolt with orings were called the STO Delrin bolt or similar, while the bolt without orings are called the Worrblade/Eblade bolt. I could easily be misremembering but I'm pretty that I'm correct. Pretty sure Pbase has that one mislabeled. I'll have to dig through some old magazines and see what I turn up.

I'm asking because It's one of my favorite bolts, the one with orings. It was the first bolt that received a composite plunger. Oh and btw, I'm gonna try to Rit Dye the plungers to see if i can match the rear to black delrin.

The Worrblade bolt's I have all have o-rings, but I think they did release a version without orings too.

I was just thinking I might have to check some of the old magazine advertisements.

Ball-nose plungers:
metal plunger #1 : 13.30g
metal plunger #2 : 11.05g
ACP's composite plunger : 2.05g

I searched high and low for source for the plastic plungers to avoid paying $13 each but could not find them. I did not look in China though.

VC-3 seems to secure them into delrin bolt (good results for now). A lot or teflon tape can work in a pinch. Superglue would also work but it ain't ever coming out after that! I have not put one of these plungers into metal bolt yet, dunno if Loctite would work or not.

When installing with VC-3, be sure you get it installed correctly. I have not attempted to remove one yet but I could imagine the hex on the plunger's rear stripping very easily and the plunger being stuck in the bolt.

Edi: Will take some weights of my stuff later. But as you can tell above, a metal ball-nose plunger can affect the total weight by few grams. Or a lot if you buy one of ACP's

Do you have a link to the composite plunger? Seems like an easy way to reduce weight on a heavier good quality bolt like a Worrblade bolt.

I'm guessing it's in the Spine bolt. ACP used them in their much cheaper WGP bolt. That's what made be realize they've got to be relatively cheap compared to the metal ones despite them being listed at twice the price on their site. But I've yet to find a source for them at any price, only smaller composite ball-nosed plungers.

how many bolt pin plungers do you get when you buy them, is it just one

only 1 for $13. Belsles bolts use press-fit style plunger tho, not compatible with the ACP one above. Belsales/Eclipse bolts are generally pretty light, even their newer aluminum versions.

So I weighed some bolts and stuff this morning while bored

STO bolt-73 grams
Stock trilogy bolt-81.5 grams
stock trilogy back block-26 grams
some random derlin pull pin-1.5 grams

The lightweight bolt plungers I mentioned earlier soak up Rit Dye in just a few minutes, even the standard (non-synthetic) black color worked great. However, it looks a little dark against delrin so I'd suggest using the synthetic graphite Rit Dye instead.

Do those derlin back blocks hold up over time? I feel like that is a lot of force on derlin. Screw holes strip? I am interested in picking one up but question that aspect.
