A contributing factor to this issue is probably the detent spring tension. It has the most tension on any detent I've ever used on any detent, by far. It's enough tension to damage a bolt like 10X faster than a normal detent, not exaggerating. I loctited the hollow setscrew as far out as possible for the threads to catch. This would reduces some tension but it's still way more than other detents. Unfortunately the Nummech detent must be fully threaded into the body since it has such short threads.

The Nummech has not changed my opinion. The Check-It detent is still the #1 with the Freeflow #2 and Shocktech #3, based on price for performance. But buy whichever one you like best or looks best on your gun. Then follow Docfires or my instructions for installation and you'll be golden. Avoid Autococker Parts rebuildable detents unless it perfectly compliments your guns aesthetics.
What makes the check it detent so favorable? I am going for another round of Anno with a different body and some more parts. I was going to use an inception or Auto cocker parts detent because they both have removable, anodizable , aluminum outer caps. I found that the shock tech and check it ones do as well. How can one be better than the other? They all look the same to me. Is it a difference in spring?

I will say that freeflow and shocktech both have removable caps as well. Downside to the inception ones is that it has little to grip especially when repolished to actually get the detent to turn.

Several big differences the Check-It is $15 and includes a Delrin ball as well as an SS. Mine also came with a replacement spring as well, dunno if they still do that. The Shocktech and FF don't co e with either of those and are $25 - $18.

But id still buy the ST or FF under certain circumstances. Like if I wanted one that matched the blue or silver ano of my cocker id buy a ST ( Check- It does come in polished red). Id choose the FF if milling complimented the milling of my cocker. I actually just sent 2 FF detents to ano with a Klingon autococker.

Is the detent ball preferable so it wears as opposed to wearing the detent housing and the side of the bolt? Where are you sourcing plastics balls for the FF, ST, another detents with steel balls? I'm ordering some FF detents. They are aesthetically pleasing!

Yes, they cause a bit less wear than the steel detent balls. Alll the plastic detent balls I’ve seen are made from delrin, so they’d wear equally as fast. PMing you

Simple plastic will wear down SS will not. As the plastic wears it will increase the chance of the ball flying out along with the spring. If the spring gets caught between the bolt and the breech it may damage it. Using a SS ball my show a tiny rub mark on your bolt that will do nothing but look wired in a part you never see. My Shocktech cocker with standard ST detents SS show no wear on the bolt.
