I noticed a velocity change when i used different viscosities of oil. So my vote is yes, it does matter

I like to have all my guns dripping with oil but thats just personal preference. If your gun is operating well then just keep doing whatever youre doing

I really only do it when I have the gun totally torn down anyway, so yes, but rarely.

Oil in the asa and some in the hammer lug lock screw hole (if you have one drilled).

Old rule of thumb ~ Oil in the air lines, grease on moving parts.
I've always found white lithium grease the best or Vaseline will work.
For oil, I've relied on Hoppes #9 gun oil.

Light oil on valve train (hammer included) during assembly then a drop of air tool oil in the ASA when putting the bottle on each day of play. Never needed grease on an Sniper/Autococker.

Seriously, who runs these dry? Always coat the hammer with a film of oil on assembly and a few drops if you have the frame off. Otherwise a few drops in the asa and a oil or grease on the bolt (depending on material).

Never in my life have I put oil on an autococker hammer. In my head I see more drawbacks than benefits.

It doesn’t matter but I do after a good cleaning. Not a lot just enough to keep stuff slick.

I guess I’m in the minority. On the rare occasion that I do take one apart to clean I put it back in dry.

My sniper went 10 years on the occasional drops of oil in the Asa and the first thing to go wrong was reg creep.

Tri-Flow in a bottle two drops then spin the hammer to distribute. Any heavy weight grease like DOW or others will slow the speed of the hammer and affect velocity

Oh yeah, Triflow...I have some of that just sitting.

Tri-flow will swell orings - not that it will matter much on a cocker hammer, but something to be mindful of. I would not use it in a regulator for example. I do love me some Tri-flow! butter smooth on chainrings.
