FWIW I never had any of the body boring/alignment issues mentioned earlier with the Superbolts I’ve owned. Never owned the Lightning.

I also bought them knowing what I was getting. I didn’t see them as $75 nearly complete markers but $75 body kits that came with matching barrel, front block, back block, frame, bolt. For that, they’re pretty awesome.

But don’t they also have like a weird proprietary thing going on with the ASA/front block area?

No, the Inception Designs mini front block and mini Drift kit went on without modification. No mods needed for the ID valves or Sconi feednecks either. Only non-standard parts are the frame to body screws. The DYE twist lock bolt system limits aftermarket options, but that doesn’t really bother me, but I was lucky enough to buy a Sanchez Machine delrin bolt for these years ago. It’s mostly just a 2k+ mini body.

We used to have a nice superbolt thread . At one of those annual big games with all of the vendors, they sold a bunch of them for around $65.

The frames are terrible except for small hands; the edges were not finished which crowds the space under the trigger guard. I have never found a use for the frames.

If the barrel stops short of the breech, you can run a tap down there a few turns to fix it. The pnues can be forced to work, but as noted, they are hardly worth it.

The bodies are light, and the stock bolt isn't bad. If you drill out the passages in the body you can get the pressure quite low. There's no telling where the worst tolerances will show up on any one superbolt. The aluminum is decent, so you can use them to practice machining and anodizing

I like them for pump projects.

I had a Lightning 10 years ago that I threw a pump kit on. It was part of a Craigslist buy.

It was as servicable as any sniper I had, but it had parts on it that far exceeded the value of the marker.

I would never pay more than Trilogy money for one.
