I believe Scotty is correct. All of my newer Shocktech rams appear to have SS bases. I feel like they might have used plates brass in earlier rams tho. I don't recall them quiet as intracite back in the day. But I could be wrong about that.

They are currently stainless. I took one apart and cut it a few weeks ago. They are not plated.

I bought a set of older Shocktech pneumatic They arrived yesterday and the ram base is 100% for -sure nickel plated. I’m unsure the base material. But I’ve bears plating sticks much better beqss than most other metals i like stainless steel or aluminum (according to Palmers).

im gonna tear it down and replace it with the updates SS base. Ill weigh and compare both bases and report back if I can remember.

The older pneumatics arrived and the ST rame base is def plated. Its shiny and chipping, base has a brassy tone to it but I could be wrong.

I forgot how much smoother the older ST rams are compared to todays.

Thanks for sharing. Do the older rams also broached for a hex key at the end of the shaft?
