    Pool Bottom Cocker Restoration

    Hello Y'all,

I Got this cocker a few years back with the intent of returning it to the field.
Well ... took way longer than expected, but here it is, in all its glory πŸ₯³

I have very little info on this body, any info would be appreciated.

Funky cutout from ... someone ... If you have any info on it, id love to hear it.
The bolt is my creation, was trying to make it as "transparent" as possible.

Is the anno worn down in that 'notch' area? Trying to visualize a ptp style sled or something riding there.

Definitely wear, there is some blue left in some spots.

I assume the bolt was supposed to ride on the cut out for support/keeping back block straight. What does the hammer look like?

For some reason It looks like it was maybe made to be run full length or like a half block. Maybe the slot was for half block mode. The pin would be lifted up but the ball was tight enough not to let it slide out. Bolt was tilted to remove with pin still attached.

Unless they made it so a ptp style or part of the body would fit back in the slot.

    Really interesting

the weird part is the machining is done prior ano, and the back block is not altered.

That doesn't look like anything a major shop would do. Very Homebrew style of cutting anyone that has any amount of clout in the early days of machining those that that would basically allow for significant for breach wear

It most certainly had a sled for the bolt. With the notch on the passenger side, I'm wondering if the sled stayed put and the bolt moved through it. There isn't much wear on the body so the theory is supported. Perhaps it was something similar to Brahim Estephan's? It was wooulf that was selling it some years back.

        Do you have any pictures?
the only wear is on teh breach and the raised part on teh back, definitely seen some use since the mod and ano.

With the side cut on the right side, I wonder if it was for a bolt action type cocker?

      Great work restoring this one!
I really like how the custom bolt really fit the design

        Thank you
I thought about that, but there is no wear inside the notch

Looks like it was supposed to be some sort of half block with quick strip type slot out the side like a Sheridan. I’m assuming the they just gave up on it and took the easy way out or who ever put it together simply didn’t have the parts for it and just went full block

I got it as a project, so i have no idea what is the story on this.
The back block was there and fully anoed, so i put it together as a full block ... if it breaks, ill mill it down for mid/half block πŸ˜…
