    PTP/ Armson sight

Hey guys, scored this on eBay recently. Always lusted after Ptp mags and cockers back when I was a kid. I’m not finding a ton of info on these online. I know it’s missing parts (shroud, barrel) but I thought it was cool. Gonna be a little project gun. Anybody got pics or have one with a Armson sight or sight rail on it? Any tips or tricks messing around with theses? I’ve heard the power feeds have very few threads, gotta be careful not to strip them out. I can’t believe how sloppy these old pot metal frames are, the trigger plate is just swimming around,so much play. Already got a Meteor frame to swap in.

Huh. I never knew the sight rail on these was a separate piece. My enduring memory of these was from the illustrated image of them in PTP's ad.

I’m gonna stop in a sporting goods store and see what I can find for 3/8 dovetail rails, then I got to get a drill press and drill my own holes. Unless some one has a PTP rail they want to ditch!?

I think I have a gloss black one. I don’t have a rail that fits it. I got it to mount on my First Strike bolt action Phantom but I found a better dove tail that acts as rear sights at Slims this year I think I like better. Let me know if you want it. I got to look and see what I payed for it you can have it for that if you want.

How is the sight attached? Is there a separate rail bolted to the gun?

If I remember correctly, the top of the marker has two holes threaded for an 8/32. The rail/block lines up with holes drilled and takes two socket head screw just like a bottom line. The sight attached via a dovetail. So it’s top of gun, rail/block with dovetail milling then Armson sight. Will get yea picture when I have a chance if you would like 👍🏼

Man Mearleman that thing is sweet. How do you like playing with the sight? I had a cheapie ADCO red dot on my spyder when I was a kid, I think it definitely helped me be more accurate.

So this particular one, I have never used it in game. I did have the Dye site on a Dye Angel back in the day that I used and I liked it. That site is basically the same in a different body. So not sure if you are familiar with the Armson style sites but you don’t look through it like a red dot. Basically you look at the red part with one eye closed then when you open both eye you have that red dot sorta optical illusioning in your field of vision…..Like if you stared at a light bulb then look away, that orb is still there. Hopefully that makes sense. It basically gives you an idea of where the paintball will be going a tad quicker than sighting down the barrel which you are doing anyways. Definitely good for power feeds and vert feeds.

I have an Armson OEG sight on my Phantom which sits right behind the vertical feed and I love it. Helped improve my accuracy dramatically, which is ironic overall as I've never really believed in sight systems for paintball (unlike for airsoft).
"Aren't you getting too old for this??"
                  "Nope."
