Converting an AMP illusion into an autococker?

    Hi folks
I've never owned an autococker but have always wanted one. I do have an AMP illusion; would it be as simple as adding a new front block and new trigger frame to do so? Ideally I'd like to be able to convert it back and forth between pump and semi. Thanks!

I've never touched an illusion before but it looks like it should take a 2k+ front block. Make sure you get a different cocking rod and a different trigger frame that has the slot for a timing rod.

I have no personal experience with this marker but based on photos it appears that you do just need a front block, banjo, and pneumatics.

Depending on how Chinese it is the the banjo threads may be metric or non standard. If that is the case you can use a helicoil to change the threads to those typically found in cockers. Or you can attempt to modify your front block and make a custom banjo bolt.

Look like you will also want to add a grove in the vasa for the timing rod to get to the three way

He would need a trigger frame as well. The illusion frame doesn't have a timing rod slot.

For the price of all the parts you would need you can probably get a cheaper cocker and that way you wouldn't have to give up your pump either

The illusions are not necessarily compatible with anything autococker geometry. You would have to make several custom parts in order to do the conversion and by the time you get that done you could probably buy any number of previously built custom cockers

not at all compatible with AC stuff aside from the barrel. The feedneck is Angel threads, the spacing on the grip frame screws is further apart than standard grip frame spacing. The front pump mount bolt is not conventional for anything AC. The valve and hammer are different and incompatible spec as well. The Illy and senti were largely proprietary on parts and specs. you can for certain make it operate like a cocker but just not off the shelf components.

            Very much custom.

The dual rods are the first obstacle. Different front end with less volume due to the velocity adjuster, and you'd need a custom front block and VA as the distance to valve will change.

No adjustment for the hammer, either.

All solvable, but significant, challenges. I looked at Midblocking one once, and everything's just in a different spot once you look under the hood.

You are all the best. Thanks for the detailed replies. I'll enjoy this one just as a pump and pick up a cocker to go alongside it. Thanks!!!
