Custom Prostock Anno build Feedback / Questions

    Hey all -

I am pulling together a custom build + ano for a 2k3 Prostock. I have a few questions that I wanted to get some feedback on before I start ordering parts and finalizing everything.

Frame - I have a stock frame and a frame that appears to be modified with a bearing. The bearing frame is 100% smoother. Is this a factor when it comes to ano'ing? Should I go with the stock frame or is the aftermarket modification frame the right idea. Obviously, I want everything to match so wanted to get some feedback.

Pneumatics - Is going with the ID set the general consensus? I've read just about all of the posts and most people are between shocktech / ID. I've seen the ID ram length needs a custom rod so is it worthwhile to do ID 3-way, LPR, and a shocktech ram? Are they interchangeable? Arc said that it doesn't matter if the parts are raw vs finished but should I try to source raw parts or order the finished product

Barrel - I already have a full freak xl kit and inserts, the ano quote includes a two piece barrel so should I just get a two piece freak barrel and send it? Or are there advantages with other kits / sets.

HPR - I have quite a bit of experience with the CP V2 regs and have never had a problem. Given I plan to ano are there others to consider given the build plan above?

    Appreciate all the help!

The shocktech hpr is basically a CP internally. The advantage of the ST pnumatics over the ID is they can be found in raw more easily. I have both ID rams and ST rams and my experience has not needed different pymp arms

I haven’t sent a marker for anno so I don’t know. Imho, I would go with what you like and what would make you use the marker the most. It won’t ever be a factory splash or something super collector. So I would go with the bearing frame unless Jenky in anyway (you said modified). The freak is fine, tube is tube, go with what looks good. If it is a one piece carbon or something, yes I would get a metal two piece to match / 2 pieces fit nice in cases. I love cp Regs too, they seem to be closing the pb side of things, so seats may be an issue in the future; although you could always spare parts old ones for the anno one. If the guy doesn’t care about raw or anno parts then I would get either (ask about mix match raw/anno being an issue).

Thanks all for the feedback - how do we feel about the shocktech vs ID lower kit? I have a shocktech lower kit in my trilogy with no issues but was thinking about trying out the ID kit for curiousity purposes. Anything significantly different between the two that would impact performance?

If you are planning to ever sell this gun i would make a build out of black parts. Anodizing is gonna cost almost as much as the parts depending on what you do. I know you didn't ask, but as a guy who does lots of builds I only do builds where if I have to sell it i’m not gonna loose my butt off. You can't help but loose some when doing a build, but just something to consider.

Main things to do for playability imho, bore the gun 11/16 for a lazerous valve and delrin hammer, this can be done post ano, but better to do before ano so tube not raw, not end of world, but the difference is how soft you can spring your tube and trigger is worth the move to the lazerous valve and delrin hammer. Second most important things are barrels and feed necks. Want to make sure you can put a good hopper on there and bore match ur paint. Other than that all the rest are smaller matters, style preferences, etc, cumulatively they can show some difference.

Good luck, enjoy the journey and playing with your legos.
