Pneumatic Pump Trilogy...

I have been wondering about the feasibility of a pneumatic-assisted pump Trilogy, because I have a pump Trilogy and like to tinker...

Then I seen that beautiful blue one in the 'Cocker picture thread. Now I know it's possible, but I want to know HOW.

I assume that the 3-way rod is reversible, gets chopped and collared to a pump arm.

The blue one in the picture is using a bottomline regulator, which makes sense given that the pump guide threads in place of the LPR.

Is that it? Is there really no "Step 2"?

That's essentially it, though a little over simplified.

I started with an SF Trilogy, which was done deliberately. The SF frame has a pneumatic line run off the 3-way to drive a solenoid in the frame. That hose is hidden under the eye cover. As you mentioned, it has an ASA with an integrated ASA from a Tippmann e-bolt, from which the LP hose dives under the grips and then thru the eye cover to the 3-way. The ram hoses are reversed but otherwise plumbed normally.

The pump kit itself is a 99 spec Slice Silver kit. Conveniently, 99 spec front block threads are almost identical to 1/8th NPT, so I used an LPR adapter to attach it. I did all that nonsens because I wanted to eliminate any pump wobble, seeing how the 3-way was attached to the pump. At the time, there were no silver slice kits for trilogies (which appears to be changing soon) so 99 spec was really the only option.

I did not use the stock 3-way rod. I was hoping to, but it ended up being too short. Instead, I bought an STO 3-way shaft and a full size timing rod, and bent the rod into shape. The rod was then threaded/glued into the pump handle.

The only other mod that was required was to put a stop on the inside of the pump handle so it doesn't slid off the front. The slice kit made this really easy. There's a delrin liner on the inside that I just cut down to the appropriate length, drilled and tapped the pump guide, and put a screw into it with a washer on it. The washer catches the delrin liner and thus prevents the pump handle from coming off.

I should also mention that I took the 90* barb fitting off the LPR and put it on the ram, which acts as the rearward stop for the pump handle.

The whole point of the design was to be as clean as physically possible, as well as require the minimal amount of of actual custom mods. It would be easily reversible as well; the only real cutting was to the pump kit.

I do not have a Trilogy SF, so this will leave me having to route a hose to the 3-way, probably through the grip (same routing, just not covered by the eye cover).

A sleeper LPR inside the grip would be awesome, but probably more effort/expense than it's worth.

Pretty sure the pump kit on my Trilogy is a Slice kit, so I should able to follow a similar design path as yours.

Yeah, using an SF is not at all essential. It just makes the final product look a little cleaner, IMO. Running a standard cocker LPR on an ASA with 2 ports would work just fine. Running the LP hose thru the grip would probably help prevent the hose from flopping every which way. Just be aware that you will have to cut your grips a bit.

i was gonna do something along those lines on a Sheridan ... Maybe I'll get back to it at some point ...
