Palmers LT valve or Shocktech 9/16” Lower Tube

I have the Plamers LT valve kit ready to go into the black/brass 2k centerfeed project. Is it reasonable to entertain going with the shocktech 9/16” lower tube kit or just a waste of dollarydoos? Any objections to the LT kit? Stock WGP everything else.

Palmers calls it a medium pressure (300-400psi) valve. If I remember correctly, the stock WGP reg would sweet spot at or below the low end of that range. Total novice here.

I swear by PPS valves, they are nice and poofy when sprung correctly. I have had great success with WGP, CCM and others so I’m sure ST will be fine.

Edit: Try the valve with your WGP lowers first, you may find you don’t need anything “fancier”.

Good to hear. No reg flags with the PPS so I’ll stick with it.

I always liked Palmers valves. Getting the springs right is key with any valve.

You building a pump or cocker?

Thankfully ih8cornnuts shipped his pump with a bunch of springs so that’s what I’ll work with.
I’m working on the black/brass 2k centerfeed now. The pump comes next.

Stock WGP regs typically operate around 300-400psi.

One full turn out from flush on the adjuster, which lands around 290–310 psi. That will put you in range for that valve. I would start with the lightest springs sets and work your way up.

Are the Palmers pneumatics no good? I would run that black set on the bench with the black palmers reg and that benchmark frame. That would make a nice shooter with the palmers valve stock WGP internals and some nice properly balanced spring set. With the volumeizer then I would pull a plug that gage port.

Funny you mentioned that stuff. Here’s a quick mock up. I had other plans for the black Stabilizer but you never know where it will end up.

Sweet it’s a dye hinge. I thought it was a benchmark.

I am an absolute non-expert cocker owner but I’d thought I’d say something about the topic.

I put a Palmer LT valve in my project pumper cocker because that way you can run CO2 with no regulator. Normally on 99+ cockers this is basically impossible but the LT valve more or less functionally backdates the gun to the old pre-HPA spec. It will run 900psi and chrono consistently and still get about 20 shots from a 12g. For that reason and also because these are no longer being made it may make sense to save it for a project like mine if you think you may ever build such a thing.

Thank you for the input. That all makes sense with their listed specs. A 12gr pumper cocker was not something I had considered but might be a perfect use for the one on my table.
Palmers still shows 9/16’s in stock and he was still shipping as of a few months ago. We’ll see what I can grab.
